BYOB (bring one of your better bottles)and cash only. Nice food with French touches. Great Location just N of New Hope on River Road. Hopelessly picturesque. Check out the Charles Schultz cartoon near the door

OK.... not sure if you *can* have a BYOB tavern, but that name describes it the best. A few intimate tables in the beautiful Bucks County countryside and an extraordinarily good, reasonably priced menu. You will feel like you went back two centuries! I had escargots and scallops, my wife had lamb - top marks on the presentation and taste. Vegetables done to perfection. And no cripplingly expensive wine list!

Certainly one of the most picturesque places around, and often the food is simply outstanding! Other times, not so much. Always worth a visit, however, particularly on a brisk evening (the open roaring fireplace is charming!).

In France, restaurants expect you to linger and savor your meal. The Inn at Phillips Mills is clearly not in France. From the start, our waitress tried to rush our ordering. When we asked if we could order appetizers first and the entrees later, the answer was no. The appetizers, though delicious, were followed up quickly by the entrees. Our server was grim-faced throughout. We were still eating dessert when she brought the bill. And god forbid, when we lingered a bit over our coffee, she told us bluntly: "There are people waiting". That being said, the food was delicious and the interior was exactly what an old historic inn should look like. BYOB.

Some things never change, and in the case of the Inn at Phillips Mill, it's a good thing. The place itself is so romantic and charming. Nothing beats a candlelit dinner (decent food, though we would have liked some more vegetarian options) and then relaxing by fire with dessert. I do have to agree with some of the other reviewers who commented that the staff was "stiff"; a smile and a little friendliness wouldn't hurt. Still a great place though, after all these years.
