We just wrapped up another great stay at The Stephan House. It remains inviting, clean and safe. The bed was super comfortable, the view of Bridge Street is worth the price of admission! It was wonderful to come in at night and have pastries and hot cider waiting for us. Nice touch!

Room Tip: The Stephan Room has the long balcony on Bridge Street. It can get noisy at times, but that's a...

We stayed here twice. The first time in the "Stephan" room. This room has the large front balcony. It's perfect for people watching and just relaxing. It's one of the larger rooms and has a comfy king size bed. The second time we stayed in the "Williams" room. It was smaller but cozy and the bed was more comfortable than the other room. It had a smaller balcony and would have loved to sit out there and people watch at the restaurant below but it was raining during our stay so the outside was closed. I would definitely stay here again. Although a little more pricey than other B&Bs, the staff is friendly and the rooms are cozy and clean.

This homey find is a terrific place to stay in New Hope. Parking included, lots of thoughtful touches & Mike the manager is a gem. Accommodating, sincere and helpful, he made our (unexpected) extended stay easy and effortless. Can't wait to return on our next visit... a true home away from home.

Great host/owner who added warmth and good advice to first-time visitors to New Hope. Very comfortable accommodation and quite authentic for the setting. Really appreciated the on-site parking, given that parking is at a premium in the central area of New Hope.

Room Tip: Although all rooms are nicely appointed, aim for one of the three street-facing rooms on the second...

Service was great and staff went the extra mile by having apple cider and baked goods available in the lobby. However, we were given the basement which had a lot of space but was the loudest room I've ever stayed in. We heard every single thing going on on the ground floor through the wooden floorboards above (we were there with a large wedding party which didn't help that but it was noisy with staff walking and chatting before breakfast regardless, particularly considering we were right below the kitchen) which made sleep very difficult. We also had no natural light whatsoever.
The room also had a strange layout meaning that the bathroom wasn't as 'separate' as we would have expected with flimsy doors that provided little privacy and the couch that made the room a 'suite' was essentially in a separate closet that also appeared to contain the furnace for the Inn but no other furniture. A nice room generally speaking with period features (an old fireplace) but we would have probably expected to pay around half (or less) of the $250 per night considering the obvious shortcomings. Also, there was very little closet space indeed with the only available hanging space taken up by a discarded desktop computer that was being stored in there.

All in all, a nice place with great staff. It just cost way too much for the quality of room we received. Given all the attention to detail in staff service and the decor of the rest of the inn, we would have expected a lot better from our room.

Room Tip: Request any room except the basement - it really does just feel like you're staying in a basemen...

My wife and I stayed 2 nights midweek this August. Rate was about $163 for those nights, rising to about $250 on weekend nights. We booked the Stephan Room because we wanted to enjoy the balcony which has two 2 chair and table setups. Our room fronted on Bridge St about half a block from Main. Nice central location to walk to everything including Lambertville. When we checked in we were given a code by the girl who checked us in so that we could return in the evening through the locked door. When we returned at 10 PM, the code did not work. Luckily we had kept the paper given to us at check in which had Michael's phone number, so we called, and he gave us another number to enter. Room size was OK, but only a little space to store clothing. No dresser, and one shelf in the one wardrobe. So we made do by putting our stuff on the luggage rack, on top of the end table, on the floor, and on the rather large obtrusive floor a/c unit. Bathroom was nice. No space issues there. Room is right on the street, so there was a lot of traffic noise during the day, but quiet at night, since there was not much traffic after 10 PM. Room was decorated very nicely. Lots of windows to let in light from street light next to room, even with blinds and drapes. If light bothers you, bring a sleep mask. Comments made on TA about breakfast did not concern us, because we were not really needing a cooked to order breakfast. Everyhing that was out was fine. Plenty of good food to eat, Good fresh fruit, good pastries, scones, quiche, etc., etc. An excellent self serve breakfast. Only complaint about the breakfast room was that the floor A/C unit was noisy and too cold for the mornings that we were there. You are eating in the same room that they do their business, so if there were business calls etc. during your breakfast, it tended to be distracting from an optimal breakfast environment. JoAnne and Michael were very helpful with advice about where to eat and what to do in the area. Kudos to their helpful courtesies. Water bottles were freely available in the fridge in the dining room. Coffee and tea also available all the time. One previous post mentioned a stocked bar for guests. This was not available during our stay.
All of the other rooms we were able to see looked lovely. They are working hard to keep the place in top condition, and I think they are stretched a bit to get everything done with the number of employees they have.
