Great personal hospitality, and extra special breakfasts from Carl, the innkeeper and chef! He's also very knowledgeable about the Lancaster Co. area with tips on where to go and what to do while visiting the area. The warm and comfortably accommodations along with Carl's easy going charm will make you feel right at home, perhaps even better.

Room Tip: The first floor room has it's own convenient private entrance.

Staying at the Harvest Moon bed and breakfast was our first B&B experience and the innkeeper, Carl, didn't disappoint. He was very helpful in suggesting places to go and places to eat. The room was beautiful, clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable also. I love breakfast and Carl served up a wonderful meal! My boyfriend and I will definitely be going back. Thank you!

My wife and I happily call ourselves regulars at Carl's B & B. We have probably been here between 10-12 times over the past 7-8 years. We usually stay in the same room The Braeburn, which we love. Carl is a special person in so many ways. His breakfasts are sizeable and delicious always. As a host he is amazing. He knows all the little ins and outs of the Lancaster area. He always recommends places to go see and to eat. He always goes the extra mile making reservations, giving directions, etc.
I could go on and on but my wife and I are very seasoned B & B'ers having stayed at probably 50-75 of them and this is one of our favorites and only one of a few we visit regularly.
Ira and Frances Schulte

Room Tip: Big issue is if you want a one level room or a duplex and the position of the bathroom.

A very serviceable B&B. Spotlessly clean; large, comfortable bed; easy access; good shower. A wheelchair ramp is in place -- but no lift, and no suggestion (although I didn't ask specifically) that ground-storey accommodations are available. Odd, that… The decor: Country clutter. A bit twee, but under control; not, thank Heaven, the full Holly Hobbie. The interesting woodwork and panelling in the front room / breakfast room, stair hall, and bedroom that I used are largely those from when the house was built. That in the (shared, off the first-storey stair hall) bathroom is of its epoch… early 1960s? Colours that nowadays are prohibited in combination by municipal ordinance in many jurisdictions, but the ensemble is part of the house's history, and respect to the innkeeper, Carl, for retaining it. A tip of the hat to chef-trained Carl for the morning's meal. He turned out a grand breakfast. If I come back I'll ask whether or not he'd be willing to knock out an evening meal for me.

Minuses -- none of these a full-sized fly in the ointment, only a gnat or two -- 1) The road through New Holland is busy, and heavy trucks use it. I occupied a front bedroom. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back of the house. 2) Electrical plugs skilfully blocked from guest access by furniture, at least in the bedroom that I used. Recommendation: Buy a power strip, Carl, to let the guests in that room recharge their mobiles / laptops. 3) WiFi access password not posted in bedroom. Recommendation: Laminated "Guide to Harvest Moon" including small key details such as this one; leave it on the pillow, avoid need to hunt down innkeeper at inconvenient hours. 4) Coffee… not up to the rest of the breakfast, and this because not Carl but Carl's machine, on the sideboard top, was doing the brewing. Those gadgets just can't duplicate a tabletop Thermos flask of properly rich, black coffee… and this traveller, for one, in the morning doesn't want the chance to push a "Cappucino" button, he wants something hot and strong that will snarl its revivifying way down his throat.

We decided to have our wedding at harvest moon because it was one of the only venues in the area that would host a party of our size (us plus 12 guests). It turned it to be a blessing. Carl helped us through the whole planning process and took care of all the little details that I would have forgotten. He did Wonderful job coordinating the day of as well to make sure everything ran smoothly. In addition to that our room was great and breakfast was fantastic too. I usually hate breakfast but I was actually excited to get up get it here. He also accommodated fir my mother who is probably the most picky of all breakfast eaters. Even though we're from the area it still felt like a vacation for us and we are definitely hoping to come back.

The room description and reviews were misleading. The fireplace was an electric plug in. There was no flat screen TV , DVD player, or IPOD docking station as mentioned. The only coffee pot or tea pot were downstairs, late at night all the lights downstairs were turned off and the microwave was not plugged in in order to heat the water. Although the B&B had wifi, it was password protected and you had to contact the keeper in order to get the password. For the cost I could have stayed much cheaper at a hotel and had a bathroom in my room. The room was noisy with traffic from the street and we were woken before 8am with yard work being done next door. After reading the reviews I found breakfast a let down too.

Came to New Holland for the BBQ cookoff and stayed here at Harvest Moon. Carl is a gem! The room was lovely; the bed comfortable; bathroom large and clean. The food was out of this world and the conversation fantastic! We'll definitely be coming back!
