My family and I go to Red Run at least twice a year! We love this campground! The owners are always nice, they have activities for children(Crafts/Dance/etc) in the summer time. It's also fun to go during Halloween, with their Haunted house and costume contest! They also have bike rentals for $5 at the store/a small arcade/a nice pool. There is a lake near the pool where you can go paddle boating; however, it doesn't look the cleanest. They have a wide open feild for sports and games. They also have a small playground including 3 swings and 1 baby swing, 1 slide, 1 big tire swing, balance beam, and a volleyball court. It also has a few little rides for younger kids. Now, if you can't stand the smell of animals then you're in the wrong part of PA. This is Amish country!!! You will constantly here horse and buggy and smell horse!

I just returned from a weekend of camping at Red Run with my hubby and three kids (one 12-year-old and two 16-year-olds). On the positive side, the owners were very friendly and accomodating, the bathrooms and showers were in slightly better condition than most other campgrounds we've visited, and we had a huge campsite along the creek - it was big enough for 2 tents (one of which is a very large 3-room tent), 2 cars, 2 picnic tables, 5 lounge chairs, etc. We had fun but there are several reasons why I would not recommend this campground:

1. If you are a tenter, this is not the place for you. Other than us it was all RVs. The campsites away from the creek in the middle of the campground were very small - just one RV parked practically right against another. I would hate to be in one of those campsites. Since the campground was pretty empty, we were able to find a campsite where we had no neighbors on either side of us. But if we did, there is no privacy between campsites. A couple of trees, but not what I would call "wooded" by any stretch of the imagination. The sites are flat and wide open.

2. No activities for kids/families. There is a small pool and 3 or 4 video games. We are used to campgrounds that have daily activities, nightly entertainment, mini golf, bike rentals, etc.

3. Across the creek is a main road and we heard traffic all night. Ear plugs blocked out the cicadas and crickets but not the cars and trucks. That really takes away from the experience.

4. The whole campground STINKS LIKE HORSE CRAP. I am not kidding. You are surrounded by farms and can smell the manure all the time - eww!
