“worst place ever”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

To start, I advise all interested parties to stay clear of this hole!!! We were informed that we could check in at 3:30, well we finally were permitted to enter our room at 4:45. Ok, no big deal, but the resort offered no comp. drinks etc., not very good business practice!!! Second, we arrived for our "all inclusive" dinner, maybe 5 choices, and the three we tried were horrible! The desert was the best part of the meal, until my wife was half way through, and a huge hair wan entwined throughout the rest of the desert. When confronted, the staff did absolutely nothing to fix this issue, not even an apology!!?? Once completely disgusted with the dining, we went back to our room to try and enjoy what remained of our evening; low and behold our hot tub had multiple hairs in it(yes the little black ones), and the room was not cleaned as one would expect. Once WE cleaned our hot tub, we tried to relax and enjoy the evening. In the morning, we received our complimentary breakfast in bed. I would advise against consuming such atrocious food, that is not even fit for a dog. Overall, being a very traveled couple, we expected much better!!. I would not advise my worst enemy to even contemplate staying at this resort. 2 thumbs down!!!!!!

Room Tip: Do Not Go!!!!!!!

Paradise Stream is one of those old romantic hotels with private pools and large hot tubs in the suites that make you remember why one got married. The Poconos have had these type of accomodations for decades. Paradise Stream offers different levels of suites. We originally picked "Diana's" suite because we read it was the newest of the suites. The suite had some quirks. The heater / AC was at the front of the suite & if you left the bathroom door open you blocked the heat. If you closed the bathroom door that got a little cold. There was an electric heater in the bathroom though that took a while to get it warm. The private pool was cute with a fire place in that seperate glass walled in room. It was the strangest place for a fireplace. We mentioned it to a cheerful Julie who worked the front desk who said it was that way due to room size / layout. She let us view the Apple and Champaign room suites. The Apple Suite was very spacious with the fireplace in the suite and not pool room and was spacious. The Champaign suite had as you guessed an old fashion Champain glass with a large hot tub on top that you accessed from the bathroom on the second level where the bedroom was. It over looked the living area. The first level had a living area with fireplace and behind the glass wall was a small pool shaped like a heart. This suite also had a massage table and sauna. The entire place had red carpet with Egyptian pictures all around. (yes a little cheesy but fun). We liked the space and took Julie's generous upgrade offer for both nights.
Contrary to anything we read, all the suites were clean and being that we used two suites in one day we can say this with confidence.

Pros: The place is romantic and puts you in the mood.
We saw couples of different ages at dinner or the lounge. There was a same sex couple there as well. The grounds are nice and except for the security lady who could appear less grumpy, everyone was nice. The drive from the metro NY area is close. There are activilities available but most people seem to stay in doors most of the time :)
Cons: While breakfast was fine and delivered to our room, dinner was similar to a "basic" catered wedding hall. We figured that out when we made the groupon reservation so we were not dissappointed as we did not expect nor receive anything on the gourmet end.

Entertainment was basic and OK for an uncrowded week day stay. one night had two guys playing different tunes throwing in a sexual joke now and then. The second night had a decent guitar / singer. The Weekends are better for night time entertainment.

This place is close to Camelback skiing and horseback riding. We spent some time and dollars at the outlet mall in which the hotel gives you a discount book.

All in all, if you need a get-away and never did anything like this go for it.

Room Tip: Ask about upgrades when it is not busy. Also bring candles and firewood for your suite.

I never write reviews but I had to after reading all the ones before going to Paradise Stream. Let me tell you the room was yes dated but still awesome and it was clean. The pool was so nice I had no idea I would like it as much as I did. We stayed in the champagne towers. The best part was you don't have to find or think of things to do. They give you a list of things going on and it makes it really fun. I read so many reviews I really thought this place was going to be a dump. I'm so gladed we went and found out it's not. Staff was so nice. I read a ton of stuff on here and here is what I found out:

- you do not sit with other couples at the same table. Dinner was awesome and you have your own table with your love. We went during strip night and it was really good.
- the best was so comfy and big enough
- the jacuzzi was so awesome, definately big enough. Yes it takes a long time to fill but it's big and you can get hot water.
- pool was a perfect size for a couple wanting to relax
- I don't know why people wrote they have tube tv's and vcr's because we had 2 flat screen tv's in our room.

Yes decor was a little cheezy but who cares. I just wish I could afford to stay here again for my anniversary in May. Definately recommend, it really helped us reconnect. Thank you so much to the staff! The only issue was the couple next to us had there music blastic till 3am and we could hear it but oh well that can happen anywhere.

This, was our first time here and had a good time. Decided, to go for the Holiday's and spend some time away. Arrived, Sunday and check in was easy. Stayed, in the Champagne Tower Suites. Had, a nice layout of the room. A, little dated but - overall good. Main, dining area was good, Menu items for dinner was fine. We, had breakfast in bed each day and last day went to breakfast in dining area. The, nightly entertainment was fine - everyone was having fun. But, a lot of the couples spent more time in room. The, day before we were leaving it snowed and that made my day. The, fireplace was going and we enjoyed that. (Says he's wanted to come here for 20 years) don't know if it has been here that long) that means he really had fun, I guess.
Couldn't really go out, as much as we wanted. It, was really cold out. Lobby, was nicely decorated for the season. Gift Shop, a little pricey - to me. And, bar drinks were a little pricey.
Maybe, next time - it will be in the summer.

We stayed over one night, New Year's Eve, and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities!! We only wanted to stay one night, and this resort allowed for a one night stay. Included breakfast, outdoor activities, and the New Year's Eve bash. Live band played a variety of good dancing music. They had two comedians perform (silly). We stayed in a lake side villa. It was clean, warm, and very comfortable.

I can't speak for what it's like during the summer, but my gosh we were so bored during our stay! We stayed on 12/25 and there was nothing to do! The outdoor archery is so lame, the basketball hoops at the outdoor court looked like they were purchased from Walmart, the "racquetball court" (that's actually shared with 1 basketball hoop and 1 football tossing board) was sad, and the mini golf looked like it was for a 5 year old. There was no snow so snowmobiling was not open so our only option was to drive 45 mins to one of the sister resorts for snowtubing and skiing. We played BINGO for crying out loud!

The rooms were not what we expected. We booked for a lakeside villa room, but it felt more like a fancy motel so we asked for the price of an upgrade. They were nice about it and gave us a free upgrade, but even the Garden of Eden Apple's room felt a bit lacking. Everything was outdated and I just didn't feel like I got my money's worth.

Outdated rooms + bingo + lame archery and sad "indoor sports" = NOT happy and won't be coming back.

I've been to the Woodloch Resort and it's SO much better. It's more pricey, but there's definitely more to do EVEN in the winter.

Room Tip: There are no windows in the Garden of Eden Apple rooms.
