When we go places, we always look for good food by finding lots of local cars in the parking lot. Sadly, in depressed areas, not many locals can afford to eat out. This is a shame for places like the Pine Burr Restaurant. The salad bar was very good and the choices were mostly healthy and fresh. Each of the three lunches we ordered were fantastic and the size of our meals were appropriate. When traveling, I hate feeling obliged to take a second meal with me when I leave, because, like so many restaurants, the portions are too large. Quality always wins over quantity in my experience. This place with a little cleaning and polishing could be an attraction by itself. The furnishings are solidly attesting to the hand-crafted past that is in such short supply these days. The quality of the people behind the scenes carries through in the quality of what they serve and if you travel through the Coal Region of Pa, don't miss this nostalgia filled stop along your way.
