This was the best room with a kitchenette I have ever seen.

Used every space wisely, giving entryway closet with another closet in bathroom, large tub/shower, great layout on fridge, sink, two burners, dishwasher and microwave. Plenty of dresser space and a TV that pulled out and angled for perfect viewing anywhere in the room.

The rooms are very spacious. They have many amenities. It was a very clean hotel and the front desk was very helpful. Good selection for breakfast in the morning. It was very close to the shopping areas and many restaurants.

We stayed in a room with a King bed and a pull out couch. The pull out was pretty bad, wouldn't sleep on it. All you could feel were springs. Luckily it was only me and one of my kids, so we just shared the bed. However, if I had anyone else with me it could have been an issue. The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious with a full kitchen, which is always nice. The television was a little short on channels, unless you wanted to watch ESPN, in that case there were plenty of those channels. The breakfast was the usual average offerings. Nothing hot except waffles. What I really liked was the location. There are multiple hotels nearby, movie theater, restaurants, starbucks, shopping mall, and a very quick drive to the Scranton/Wilkes Barre airport.

We stayed over 2 nights while bringing our daughter back to college at Marywood in Scranton. We usually stay in Dickson City but, wanted to try something new. This was no further away and a in a beautiful scenic area. This was a great experience. Everyone was helpful and pleasant, I was greeted by each and every staff member I saw. The place was clean and in excellent repair. It is located right across from a nice shopping area and near several restaurants and a cinema. It is up the mountain quite a way and it affords excellent views if you get the right room. We had a king suite with a pull-out sofa for our daughter. As others have said, it was a little tight with the sofa pulled out but really, not a big issue. They didn't provide a blanket for the bed, only a sheet and a thin bed cover but, we only had to ask and housekeeping provided one.The room was well appointed. The kitchenette was very handy when eating in the room. At night, there was a baseball game in the nearby PNC stadium with fireworks at the end. Our room faced the stadium and we got a free fireworks show! There were only a couple of very small things that could have been better. There were only mirrors in the bathroom (one over the sink and one on the wall behind the door). It made it hard for three people to get ready at the same time. If one mirror could have been outside the bathroom, it would have been more efficient. Also, the themostat was on the wall behind the tall desk unit. It was difficult to see it to be able to set it although, once set, the heating and cooling worked perfectly. The breakfast wasn't lavish but, it was well stocked and satisfying - fresh fruit, coffee, juice, cereal, small danish and muffins, bagels, english muffins and a waffle station. There was an outside fire pit seating area and we were able to enjoy our breakfast outside. Overall it was an excellent experience and cost less than staying in Dickson City - we will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains and PNC stadium - facing the hotel it would be on the left...

I've stayed here twice and have had a pleasant experience both times. The staff has been friendly and accommodating and the hotel is clean, comfortable and in a great location with easy access to the highway but not so close that you can hear traffic at all hours of the night.

Although both of my stays have only been one night stop overs, the nicely appointed kitchens would easily work for a extended stay trip. There is also a good section of retail that is basically just across the street and walking distance for almost anything that is needed while you are in the area.

I would definitely stay again.

We stayed one night while on a road trip. We were disappointed by the TownePlace Suites, which really don't live up to the standards of other Marriott brands.

For starters, the suites are very small. And if you've got four people in the room and need to use the sleeper sofa, it's unmanageably tight. The foot of the sleeper sofa, when opened, is literally an inch from the foot of the king bed. That makes it very tough to get around the room. The sleeper sofa also was very uncomfortable for our kids, who typically are not picky about beds. But they could feel the springs and the rods beneath the mattress.

At check in, the friendly clerk wrote the wrong number on our keys. We noticed a do not disturb sign on the door, then had to go back down four floors to the front desk to ask if she gave us the correct room number. It turns out she had not given us the right number.

The building also had an odd layout, with the elevator and stairs at the far end of the building rather than near the front desk.

A high point, however, was the breakfast, which is included in the price of the stay. The selections included hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels and make-your-own waffles. That, at least, was a good value. And the rooms were clean, if not comfortable.

We would not stay at this hotel again and would be likely to avoid this Marriott brand.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We take all feedback into consideration. I do apologize for your troubles during the check in process. I will definitely use that as a training opportunity. We also offer one and two bedroom suites, which may better suit your family. I ask that you do not let your experience here affect your view of our brand entirely. Rather if you would consider trying one of our larger suites you may find that more accommodating. Again, I thank you for letting us know about your stay here at the TownePlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Reservations made months in advance, 2 hours before check-in received voicemail from out-of-state # saying they hade overbooked and we were now staying at another hotel TownePlace Suites by Marriott. Arrived at 4:15pm. Check in was 3:00pm. Desk clerk tells us "Room is not ready yet, at least 20 minutes more...have a seat in lobby, with 20 other grumbling guests...We hade a concert to attend, ride was arriving in 5 minutes!! Went back to check-in line, was able to at least get a key for room. I had no complaints about the room. The Switching hotels business was out of my control. We were also charged extra $5.00 for using a VISA card to pay for room.

Thank you for leaving feedback about your stay at our hotel. I do apologize that you were not able to check-in immediately upon your arrival. Our staff was working very diligently to get all guests checked in by our 4:00 PM check-in time; keeping in mind that everyone arriving was looking to enjoy one of the many events happening in our area that day. I definitely understand your frustrations on this matter. Our property does not charge different amounts based upon your payment method. However, at check-in an authorization is placed on your card for the amount of room and tax plus an additional $20 for incidentals. The leftover funds are released at your check-out. Again, I thank you for reaching out to us. If you have any further concerns do not hesitate to contact me directly.
