“Home of the "Father of the Conservation Movement"”

The U.S. Forest Service has done a wonderful job of restoring and preserving the home and grounds of Gifford Pinchot. The grounds are nicely landscaped. The House tour by US Forest Service (Julie) was detailed and filled with enthusiasm. If you are in the area of Milford, Pa. be sure to take this tour. They will celebrate the fiftieth Aniversery of President Kennedy's visit in early September.

“Beautiful grounds”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

On a day with nice weather, this place is amazing. We took our dog and walked the grounds. They did not allow us to take the mansion tour with our dog, even though he is 6 pounds and in a carrier. Still, just walking around the gardens and cemetary was nice. The grounds are huge, and you can just sit and relax. It is very peaceful and worth a drive over if you are in the area.

“A true historic site that's fun”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

The U.S. Forest Service does an excellent job guiding visitors through this interesting house - archtecturally fascinating. The Pinchot family made a profound impact upon our nation. This is the home of the U.S. Forest Service. I love history and I have visited here several time and always had a great time.

“Must see in Milford”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Grounds are lovely, as well as the exterior of the building. Inside tour is interesting, but not spectacular. Great stop for those who love history, architecture, and landscaping. Gifford Pinchot was a former PA Governor and conservationist.

“Beautiful grounds; skip the tour”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The grounds at Grey Towers are beautiful, with some whimsical landscaping and architecture. You can visit them for free, which we did our first day in town. I went back later for a tour of the interior and wished I hadn't bothered - while it is an impressive older house furnished with lots of antiques, the tour itself wasn't particularly interesting - just a jumble of names and dates and a very oddly decorated dining room. You can only tour the first floor (except on certain days at certain times when they said you could go upstairs where now they have offices and a catering hall), which is just the large entry hall, a large library, and the aforementioned dining room. The outdoor features are much more interesting and some placards placed on the grounds tell you some of the same details you get from the tour. Save your money and enjoy the outdoor features and the outbuildings.
