Really enjoyed our visit - lovely grounds and interior very interesting. Be sure to check out the dining table in the water - this was the highlight for me. I believe they do dinners there. Nice area to visit.

Extremely interesting and beautiful former summer home of Gifford Pinchot and Cornelia Bryce Pinchot. It's a National Historic Landmark.
It's free to enter the grounds and there is a small charge if you want to tour the mansion. The guide we had was extremely knowledgable and a lot of fun. We learned a lot, not only about the Pinchot family but also of connections to the Kennedy's. It was fascinating to learn about the beginnings of the Progressive movement that Gifford and his brother Amos were key in starting.
The grounds are beautiful and very picturesque. My husband enjoyed going all over the grounds with his camera and came away with some beautiful shots.
It's a grand way to spend an afternoon. Check it out-you won't be sorry!
