Raymondskill falls was our second stop on a day of hiking and visiting waterfalls. It was much less crowded than Dingman's falls and Child's Park, which we appreciated (we couldn't even park at Dingman's falls until late in the day because it was so busy). The hike was a little steep and rocky in parts, but the view of the falls was great. The parking lot was small and when we arrived at 11:00 there weren't many spots left, but fortunately it's not a long hike to the falls (.5 mile, maybe), so people weren't staying terribly long and it looked like spots were opening up pretty frequently.

We toured the various waterfalls on the PA side of the Delaware Water Gap and we clearly felt the best, most impressive falls view in PA was from the base of the middle falls of Raymondskill Falls. The falls are easy to find; parking is about 1 mi (1.6k) west on Raymondskill Road which is located off US 209 between Dingmans Ferry and Milford. Parking is on the left near an impressive restroom facility (apparently a source of some controversy as it cost the state $600,000) with some additional, overflow parking just to the east, back in the direction of US 209. Raymondskill Falls is technically a cascade of three separate falls. The walk to the upper falls is very easy but these falls are low and not very impressive. The hike to the base of the middle falls, while relatively short, takes one down a very steep incline that is often wet with spray in areas and can be a challenge for some to climb back out to their car when it is time to leave. For those willing to make the climb out, you are rewarded with a wonderful view from a viewing platform surrounded by trees and rhododendron at the base of the very impressive middle falls, with the upper falls in view, and at the crest of the lower falls with a lovely smaller water fall to the side (the small waterfall may not be flowing in dry periods). One can continue to the base of the lower falls but we felt the view was not as nice, at least in the early summer, and not worth the additional climbing; with blooming rhododendron in the spring or with autumn colors in the fall, I can imagine the view from the base of the lower falls may be worth the extra effort. While Dingmans Falls is more famous, Raymondskill Falls is the one not to miss.

When we visited it, we were the only ones there, and could enjoy the quiet, the conifer breeze. If you have the legs for it you can climb up along the right side of the falls.

The rain stopped and we decided to travel to the falls. Really glad we didn't decide to make the trek. We spent all of an hour hiking around the falls. Absolutely beautiful!!

More unbelievable were the three kayakers we met who had just ridden from 1mike up stream. Wow!

This was beautiful! Hike would have been really challenging if it was wet. Not something that I would have tried with a young child either. Very natural atmosphere and only saw one other family while we were there. Falls were beautiful and well worth the stop!
