“Do you want to camp next to a HIGHWAY?”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

To us, camping is to get away from noise and people. Well, you don't get that here. You are literally camping right next to a HIGHWAY. Interstate 84. It was ridiculously loud. Bathrooms were old and dirty. Sites were worn and all dirt...

If you want riverfront camping, stay at Dingman's Campground or simply do a river trip and canoe/camp overnight/canoe. You can stay anywhere on the river and it will be quiet and private.

Do NOT stay here!!!

This campsite is NOT a good choice if you camping with small children. No where for them to play, no activities etc. Our camping area was small, overgrown with weeds and the area to sleep on was rocky (many visible sharp blue rocks , hard to walk on let alone to sleep on. Area was very noisy due to campground being located right off major highway. Cars go way to fast on roads with in campsite. Bathrooms need to be redone (outdated, mirrors falling off walls, toilets hard to flush, showers heads rusty, shower curtains dirty, staff tried to keep clean but dirty campers trashed them. Also, at night bathroom counter LOADED with bugs. Drawn map mis-leading due to hills of campsite, areas are not flat. Front desk staff was LAZY and when you went to purchase something it was like you bothered them. Campsite was like a ghost town during the week. People were still on our campsite at check in time so apparently you dont need to leave at checkout. The river was beautiful and so was the creek, though I would not stay here again. With all the advertising they do along the highways where I live I sure was disappointed. There are way to many places to stay next time. Perhaps it was our fault not making sure it was kid friendly but again wouldnt suggest it for families.

Room Tip: Dont trust map

This campground is RIGHT next to RT 84, all you hear all day and all night is trucks barreling down the mountain. We couldn't sleep at all, actually cut our trip short it was so bad. The camp sites are unbelievably small and right on top of each other. Bathrooms were old but clean overall. we will NEVER stay here again.

well we wanted to camp so thats what we did we got a prime site which is a site on the river so we had to book an activity which wasnt a problem because we planned on doing it anyway, when you go to check in for camping they arent as nice as the girls i spoke with when i booked rafting but they werent aweful.the sites were definetly small and close together but i was told they would be and that if i wanted a bigger site for me and my friends then there other campground was better for that, this one was just closer thats why i picked it. they told me it would be noisy because there by a highway but it wasnt that bad, alot of trees, clean grounds, pets aloud, alchohol aloud, the bathrooms werent the greatest but they werent the worst, definetly would were flip flops but thats for any other public shower anywhere.the prices were good. the rafting trip was awesome very fun thought at first it was pricey but we were on the river for hours and could stop anytime we wanted and we were on our own wchich i thought was a great deal for only 45$ per person. we also found out that they recently put a zip line in, it was at the other campground like 25 minutes away but it was sooo worth it, we all went it was 44$ a person but once you see this thing you really dont care about the price. its on top of a mountain and they actually have stairs to get to it you dont have to climb a tree like some other places,2 ppl can go at atime right next to each other they had 2 lines, it runs down the mountain right next to the river and it is breath taking, i want to say it was about a hlf mile long and at least 200 ft in the air, it goes pretty fast but boy do you get a ride. the whole kittatinny experience was definetly worth the money, i will be back next year........

Room Tip: ask them what they would think is the best..

I have been to many campgrounds in PA/NY/NJ and this is by far the WORST campsite I have ever been to. The bathrooms were unsanitary and unbearable. The toilets do not flush, so you can imagine the conditions! They were not cleaned the entire weekend I was there. There were bugs caked onto the bathroom sinks, there was no soap to wash your hands, and then they ran out of toilet paper mid-day Saturday and it was never refilled until Sunday morning. I am all for roughing it while camping but do not advertise “superior modern bathhouses” and then provide conditions like this! The campsites are small and located right next to the highway. Bring earplugs because all you will hear is the sound of trucks and cars all night long. The website says that they provide river trips…the base for the river trips is about a ten minute drive away. Once on the river trip the experience is great. Just don’t stay at this campsite! I had a much better experience at Kittantiny in Barrysville, NY. I will never stay at the River Beach sites again.

Been looking for a close to home campground, Found this place and said what the hell, We arrived earlier than expevted and they let us set up 2 hrs prior to check in. The tent sites are very small and close to eachother, We stayed at site 174 the weekend of July 15th, they should be a site and half not what they are. Your in the mountains so the ground is going to be hard and rocky, We lucked out and didnt have anyone next to us on site 173, the people in 175 were very quiet. We had 4 adults, 2 kids, and a dog, We made do. The employees at the desk need to go back to business school and learn how to not just take your money and say go! I think they should have atleast brought us to the site instead of just giving us a map and say it's down the road. If you dont like your job find a new one. We did the tubing which was a good time, just about 2 hrs of relaxing on the water, Our friends did it the next day and had ore fun with more rapids, you can bring drinks with ya, The store has just about everything you need and if not, there is a 24hr walmart 5 min away, "security" cae around one night checking if we had our braclets, They do keep the grounds very clean, there is always someone walking around picking up after the slobs that dont, the bathrooms could have been a little cleaner and they do have garbage pick up twice a day and give you trash bags if you need. They have onsite parking or you can leave your cars in the parking lot. Another reviewer complained about the drianage after a rain event, YOUR IN THE MOUNTAINS! Deal with it, If you want to stay dry, get a hotel, this is camping. There is no lights out pollicy but you do have to shut the radios off at 11 which isnt all that bad, I like to party just as much as the next guy, no big deal. We stayed up till 3 am and just respected the other campers. The Delaware river was nice, This time of the year you can swim and walk to the other side, Fished everyday and caught 1 smallmouth, The prices for kayaking and canoeing were a little high i think, $50 pp, for 3 hrs, I've been to campgrounds where it was $50 for the day. Lower the prices! and if not, make the sites bigger, Overall it wasnt a bad 4 days. It did rain one day and pretty damn hard, but we made do.
