“Wonderful stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at The Percy Arms. The owners were helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived (checking in early to drop our bags off prior to rushing off to a wedding).

The room was spacious and comfortable and both decorated and equipped to a really high standard.

The South African theme mentioned by others in their reviews had rung a few warning bells, but in fact is tastefully executed through subtle fabrics choices and not so subtle, but still great art work.

I don't think I've had a better night's sleep in a hotel for a long time (despite being above an obviously successful pub/restaurant, you couldn't hear a thing).

Breakfast was delicious and well presented. The SA twist on my eggs benedict was wonderful and my husband was delighted with his South African cooked breakfast. Everything was in generous portions and served beautifully.

I think we will be looking for an opportunity to make it to the Percy Arms again, this time for a longer stay!

The Percy Arms really is a very rare treat. There are five rooms, and we had booked one of the exclusive ones which gives you more space. With a roll top bath in the room, a walk in shower, a huge double bed and a cold bottle of fizz waiting in the room, this really was a truely luxurious stay. The owners and staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much bother for them - a totally fantastic find, and we will certianly be back. The breakfast was exquisite - I had the South African brekafast which included a borewors with chakalaka and fried eggs and my wife had mushrooms on toast - both devine. If you want a quiet, but luxurious break where the owners and staff fully understand customer service and how to give you a great experience, the Percy Arms is for you. Thank you.

Our son has lived in Guildford for Three Years and we have used various hotels in that time when visiting him. In the Percy Arms we have found the perfect hotel to stay and will now use it on all visits. Accomodation is great, Food is superb and the staff are freindly and very helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the Percy Arms on a busy Friday in March. The steak "Rump Cup" was recommended by the delightful manageress Alli and did not disappoint.Cooked to order it melted in the mouth and the chips were magnificent.

The room we stayed in was Scottish Laird meets African Queen and the attention to detail with warm fluffy towels a plenty, beautifully scented shower gels and magazines to relax and enjoy mean you can travel light but still be assured of all your home comforts.

A real treat -thank you to all the Percy Arms staff for the warmth of your welcome and the excellent service

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautifully appointed

South African run and, to an extent themed, The Percy Arms had been recommended by a friend and it exceeded all expectations. The location was fabulous - beautiful view to the rear and Guildford really close. The greeting from the staff was generous and warm. The room we had was stunning - beautifully and thoughtfully prepared - with an enormous bed and a huge stand alone bath in the corner of the room with a walk-in shower and separate toilet down a short corridor in the room.

The dinner was amazing - the steak was to die for - with the service and ambiance being extremely friendly, courteous and attentive all at the same. Some great wine from the excellent list went down a treat too!

A fabulous night's sleep in the most comfortable of beds was followed by a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast.

A special thank you to the South African owner who took the trouble to talk to us at the table about the meat he served, how it was cut and prepared - we learned a lot - and to Ally the young manageress who was, quite simply, a complete star.

Can't wait to go back - there's absolutely nothing not to like about The Percy Arms

Paul H

Room Tip: Had a peek around - all the rooms were individual wonderful.

My husband and I stayed here on a busy Saturday night in March. The food and service in the restaurant were excellent - nothing was too much trouble. The room we were given was enormous and beautifully appointed. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked. I would recommend this whole-heartedly.

A wonderful pub with superb accommodation and fabulous food. Tuesday is Steak Night and you can get a full 16oz Rump for £17. The chef is South African and he really knows how to cook his meat. Breakfasts too are great. Recommended.
