“Pocono Palace Review”

REASON AND FIRST IMPRESSION-

My husband and I decided with our 3 year Wedding Anniversary coming up that we would try to do a nice weekend getaway just the two of us. I like probably many others have read the Good, Bad and Ugly reviews prior to booking this Resort. We checked in on October 9th and we got to the Resort early because we couldn't wait to start our getaway. As we walked into the Resort we were greeted with a nice smile and a Hello! . We informed the desk clerk that we were aware that we were early , but we did have a reservation. She checked us in we settled up and then she informed us since we were there to please go enjoy the resort and asked us to please leave a number for when our room was ready. We enjoyed many of the activities they offered , we took a nature walk, a boat ride ,and just wandered the resort to get familiar with it . I must admit it was absolutely breath taking the lake, the trees Fall really is a beautiful season... but anyway back to the review. So we finally got a call that our room was ready and she told us she apologized that we had to wait so long , but it was one of there most booked weekends and for the wait the offered us a 1pm checkout because we actually didn't get into our room till after 3:30pm which is the normal check-in.

THE ROOM-
Let me just say the moment we opened the door it was breathtaking! We chose the Fantasy Apple and I couldn't smell any chemicals or chlorine if anything the room smelt fresh and cleaned .We decided we would of course do a tour of the room and to be quite honest one of the lights in the bathroom wasn't working properly and I called the front desk and they had someone over to fix it within a half hour. The tub was beautiful and the pool was amazing , it just had such a warm feeling to the place and it included our own private balcony with a view of Echo Lake it was a great room!!

THE ENTERTAINMENT-

We happened to check in on the night they were having a DJ, The NY Rat Pack, and Two comedians .....we really enjoyed our evening it was a great experience .We then went back to our room and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

what it boils down to in a nutshell, is The food was great, the entertainment was amazing even on the weeknights they always had some kind of activities going on and we chose to participate in them all and I am glad we did because it was one of the best times we ever had and we will be returning to the Resorts because it was exactly what we needed !!! All in all I would highly recommend this Pocono Palace to anyone who is looking to just spend some quality couple time. As far as the T.V and all who cares I know we didn't we weren't there to watch T.V we were there to have a romantic weekend but for the record we went on a tour of all the rooms and they did say they are currently remodeling and putting more updated T.V 's and amenities in the rooms. Thank you Pocono Palace for making it such a wonderful stay for us.

Mr, & Mrs. Fletcher stayed 10/9/2011-10/12/2011
There is a lot more I could write about how wonderful this place was , but that would take me days!!!!!

Room Tip: I would Highly recommend The Fantasy Apple Which is the room we stayed in.

If I could give it a negative star I would but since you can't I guess one will have to do -.-

Where do I start? Hmmmmmmm well my husband and I were really excited about a romantic weekend away together and then we entered the Pocono's Palace....thats where the romance ended.

We were told our room was above the "nightclub" which was the exact replica of a scene from staying alive. We went up to our motel style room and you could here the bass from the club shaking and vibrating the room, not exactly romantic. What was EVEN WORSE was our room looked like it was decorated in the late 80's and stayed that way until 2011. Our box tv had a VHS PLAYER! LOL! It was just inbelievable that we paid 400 a night to stay in a glorified motel room. It was so out dated and cheesy I was in shock! I fiqured for that price it would be a wonderful room....wrong!

So.....I called the front desk and said the music from the club was very annoying and our room looked like a bad porno set :( and asked if we could change rooms. The woman said she would send a security gaurd over and show us the room. Well..............the second you stepped into the "fairway suites" the stench of urine and mold hit you like a ton of bricks. OMG! There was a round bed that was made of foam and lied on top of ply wood (NO LIE) and the sheets that were on it were for a regular bed.....gross! The heart shaped hot tub from 1982 has seen better days! There were dead bugs at the bottom of the tub as well! I looked at my husband and said we are getting the hell out of this dump!

We had paid around $800 cash for 2 nights and there was no way in hell that we were gonna stay there! My husband went into the lobby and spoke to the woman working and asked her for our money back and that we wanted to check out. It was 12:30 in the morning and we had driven 5 hours from Connecticut to get there and I was sooooooooo mad!

The woman at the front desk was nice and told my husband that they dont have that much cash on them but we would recieve a full refund in the morning. She said just tough it out and stay the night and we will reimburse you. Well we stayed in the original room (above the club) because it didnt smell like urine like the other one did. So we went back to the room and just laughed about our situation, I mean what else could you do? I called the Ramada adnd made a reservation to stay the other night.

The next morning my husband went to the lobby and like the lady promised we got all of our money back....THANK GOD! I can say that they were understanding and I fear this might happen more often then not.

So....my final review is STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY from the Poconos Palace. It was not at all what it was made to look like on the internet. We were very disappointed, and wont be back.

We stayed at Pocono Palace in early October. This place, though a bit dated, is wonderful. The staff are attentive and friendly, the (free!) food is delicious and the location is lovely. We had the "Champage Tower" room, and it was campy - yes - but so much fun. If you want a weekend to relax and enjoy each other (no wireless, and the TV's are old!), then this is the place to go. Make sure you understand that some of the "games" they play in the bar and nightclub can get pretty raunchy. But let loose and have fun --- you won't regret it!

Room Tip: Champagne Tower was fantastic - your own heart-shaped pool, a sauna, the round bed with mirrored and...

My husband and I chose Pocono Palace for a weekend getaway to celebrate our first anniversary. We definitely made the right decision. I was skeptical of the resort after reading some negative reviews on Trip Advisor, but we were impressed and had a great time.
The value for your money is incredible. We researched several other resorts and hotels in the Poconos area and this was by far the best deal. $300 a night (per couple) includes everything except alocohol. We've already paid $250/night for a basic hotel room on previous trips.
The food is great. We had the breakfast buffet each day. Saturday night was Strip Night. Yes, we had to wait to private dining, but we did NOT have to sit with other couples. Service was excellent. It says "choose one" on the menu, but you can order more. We both ordered two appetizers. The other nights are either a sit down meal or a buffet. The Sunday night buffet was also very good. Light appetizers are served in the lounge from 5:00-7:00 (cheese plate, mini sandwiches, spring rolls, etc) and there is free popcorn in the lounge as well.
The entertainment is AWESOME. The comedians and bands we saw put on a great show. The games (including XXX Newlyweds) are funny. Yes, it was a little "naughty"....but if you're easily offended, just don't go. We actually found the games to be funny.
The actvities are awesome. We rode bikes, fished, went on a paddle boat, hiked, archery, roller skating, mini golf, a few rounds of pool. The indoor whirpool and pool are nice and very clean (open 24 hours too!). There are tons of other activities including golf.
We stayed in a Fairway Suite. It was actually the only thing available since we booked late, but I was not disappointed. The room was clean. The jacuzzi worked. The bed was comfortable. Yes, the room was a little dated, but we liked the cheesy romance atmosphere. The TV was old, but it worked. The rooms could probably benefit from some updating, but it wasn't terrible.
My suggestions: bring alochol. You can drink your own alochol anywhere on the property except the restaurant/lounge area. We enjoyed our wine by the lake, on the deck, and in plastic cups (no glass allowed) by the indoor pool. The rooms have mini fridges and there's ice available too.
Bring your own bubble bath (a little goes a LONG way in the jacuzzi) and a Duraflame fire log. Both of these items are overpriced in the gift shop.
Embrace what it is. Couples only. No kids. No worrying about where to eat or gratuity. Lots of together time with your significant other and a few fun activities to do. And a little cheesy romance.

October 2011- We stayed at the Pocono Palace and did not enjoy our stay. We arrived on time, but our room was not ready and the staff seemed rude and did not care. At the Fantasy Apple the pool area had a horrible smell (not clean/fresh). The bed was not comfortable and we could not sleep in the bed because it made us itch. Slept in the chair. Little black bugs was flying around the pool and bathroom areas. Housekeeping did not do a good job cleaning. Could not use pool/sauna (disgusting). Food is average. If you order breakfast in, you are limited to cereal or a breakfast sandwich. We cut our stay short and checked out the following morning. Need to update rooms!!!!

We recently stayed at Pocono Palace for the 2nd time, with 2 other couples. Our first time this past winter we stayed in the Champagne Tower, what a treat. We enjoyed our stay so much that we all decided to return and this time we were in Fantasy Apple Suites. The rooms were beautifully decorated, once inside our room we had a warm and cozy fireplace, down a floor to a beautiful view of the lake from our round bed, and off to a heart shaped tub, and if that wasnt enough down to the 3rd floor was our heated pool and sauna. We really enjoyed ourselvesl The food was oh so much and delicious, primb rib to die for and desserts galore and many other choices. My favorite was breakfast. If you didnt find something you like on the menu or have a great time, that is a shame. Oh I also want to mention the comedian was awesome AKA Bob and Candi. Overall we had a great time so much so we booked our next visit. Cant wait to return. Thank you to the staff at Pocono Palace for a wonderful resort.

Room Tip: I loved the Fantasy Apple even more than the Champagne towers.

I knew the Pocono Palace is cheesy and campy, and that was what attracted me to check it out. However, hearing that it was dated did not prepare me for the fact that we would be staying in a poorly glorified motel room. We stayed in a Fairway room, which is one of the lower-priced options, but I could not see paying a super-high price for a night at a place like that. Anyway, we got there and immediately noticed that they had put us in a smoking room after we'd requested nonsmoking. Mixed with that thick, stale cigarette smell was a musty, dank odor, apparently from the hot tub. We didn't feel like moving, so we didn't, but the woman from the front desk came and brought us incense, and removed the filter from the air conditioner to rub essential oil on it. That was a nice touch, but the room was nonetheless seedy. The old square TV was on this flimsy plastic stand, and one of the cloth chairs had quite the strategically placed stain on it. Not the type of place we are used to staying at. We tried to just roll with it and have a good time, so we did. We went paddle boating, then were contestants in the xxx newlywed game. I am not at all easily embarrassed, but some of the comments from the host (the questions, though raunchy, weren't too much for me) were over the top, I thought. At any rate, it was fun. We also played bingo and horse racing at the bar. It was nice that they let you check in early and have breakfast there the day of your arrival, because we were able to spend the day doing activities there. The breakfast was very good, but dinner, not so much. My salmon was awful, and I ended up not eating it. My boyfriend's steak was ok. We assumed that it would be somewhat low-quality food, but it was pretty crappy. The comedy night was very good. Really funny comedians. So, that was great. But again, the room. We tried to make the best of it, but I was literally in disbelief that any place that dubs itself a resort would have such shabby rooms and furnishings. The bed was super-uncomfortable, so we really didn't get much sleep. In the morning, I was sitting on the bed and my boyfriend points out to me that there are a handful of flies landing in the area of the pillows. It was the nastiest thing. I don't know where they came from, but it made me sick. At that point, we were leaving soon, so we didn't bother to say anything. Overall, we had a nice time spending time with each other, but the room was appalling. We would not go back.
