If you want to see what a real farm market is, don't miss going to Roots Farm market. Great deals on fresh product, meats, cheese, and bake goods. Only open on Tuesday. I live in the Pittsburgh Area and travel to Roots 7 to 8 times a year, if your into canning and preserves this is a must stop for your produce , great quality at a great price. Steaks, chicken, luncheon meats and more at prices that will save you money from the big Chain Supermarkets.
If in the Lancaster area or Manheim on a Tuesday check out Roots. Don't be surprised at all the goodies you will be bringing home.

Root's (pronounced RUTZ by the locals) is a very hard place to describe ... yes it is a farmer's market with REAL farmers who come to sell their produce but it is so much more. It is also a place to buy meats, homemade bakery items, ethnic food, farm animals, Amish furniture, fresh squeezed fruit juice, pit beef sandwiches, clothing ... and on and on and on! Across the street is a flea and antique market to browse through. This is a local treasure but we will share it with you. If you are not a regular visitor to this market then plan to spend a few hours just moseying around fressin (eating) and shopping. You will definitely enjoy this experience.

Just the best farm market ever. There so many vendors selling vegetables, meats, sandwiches, fried foods, baked goods, clothes and pretty much anything else you might need. There is an excellent flea market and auction. One of my favorite foods is a fried oyster sandwich, another is the Pit Beef Sandwich. You will be amazed. Plan on spending half a day for your first visit.

I have been going to this farm market for many years. This place is the best market I have ever been to. I travel througout the country (Texas, Florida, Maine, New Mexico and all states in between) but this market is still my favorite!

This is the first time that my wife and stopped at Root's and I'm sure it won't be the last. The worst part was the traffic to get there and to leave and that it is only opened on Tuesdays. There was plenty of everything from food to clothing. You will not go hungry there are many places to eat. There were plenty of vegetable stands. The prices were excellent and quality was great. I would recommend this place to all. Give yourself plenty of time to shop as you will need it(2-3 Hours)! Get there early and go to the back parking lot over the railroad tracks as it is easier to get out of when it is time to leave. You will not be disappointed. You will have fun. And very important the restrooms were clean and not a port- a- potty in sight!
