Really boring. Quick drive through and a sales pitch.

“Family Loved It!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2012

My family loved doing this tour. It was $45 for a van of 6 of us. We followed the tour guide and listened to the tour through the radio. Loved seeing the cows get milked and just getting all the history and info.

“Ever Wonder Where Milk Came From?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2012

Manheim, PA is just a short ride north from Lancaster where you'll find beautiful farmland and one of the largest auto auctions you've ever seen. On my last several trips to Lancaster County, I've included a stop for my group at Kreider Farms, which is always a big hit. They provide a tour guide for a group who escorts visitors around the 2,500 acre farm to see the milking operation.

Most of the tour is done from the coach with a guide who understands the dairy business. He takes you to see how the cow's food is processed, how the manure is recycled, and takes the coach through the barn so that everybody can see the contented cows. Then they escort you into the area where the cows are milked on a circular carousel; you get to see this at ground level and again from a viewing room above. An individual bottle of milk (plain or chocolate) is given to each participant on the tour. We only get to see one of the barns with a herd of 1, 500 cows. Each herd gives 12,000 gallons of milk per day.

The tour is folksy and casual and very interesting. I've never had a passenger who didn't enjoy themselves. The farm also keeps hens for egg production, but because of fear of contamination, the egg business is off limits to visitors. I'd recommend this tour to anybody.
