we took my dad here for fathers' day and all of us had meals that were just fabulous. my dad had their crab cakes, always a favorite since they have no filler, just crab and little old bay. my husband had a fish from hawaii that we had never heard of, which was also terrific. and i had duck as well prepared and perfect as any i have ever had, with some sort of sweet fruit garnish and a sauteed kale and grape vegetable that was worth the trip all by itself. it is a delight not to have boring boring same old same old vegetables accidentally on the plate with your dinner. desert which we shared three ways was a meringue with a sweet marscapone and berry topping. wines were good, service was perfect, friendly but not intrusive. other guests were polite, quiet, well dressed - no jeans and no whining children. we have been here a number of times before, but this was the best visit yet.

We celebrated our birthdays here and it was a very nice overall experience. Private dining room with early American feel and artwork, wide plank wooden floors, just the right number of tables without feeling too confined. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. We ordered the ceasar salad - made at the table. It was plenty for 4 people although the menu says it serves two. My wife claims that the crabcake was the best she ever tasted and it was a very good size as well. The Beef Wellington is not found very often on menus but this place knows how to prepare it! Pork Chop with peach dressing was superb. Nice wine selection. The desserts are just incredible - try the chocolate tart or the olive oil chocolate cake. The Blueberry Cheesecake also was awesome. Go here for a special occasion and you will not be disappointed. We wore jackets without ties and it was just right. Some in the dining room were just smart casual which was also OK. Expect to spend some bucks here but worth it.

Good food. Reasonable price for the food and setting in a colonial inn. The excellent snapper soup with sherry shows what those nasty snapping turtles are good for.

I do not know why we waited to long to eat here! I am a really picky diner and the food here was quite good. Being a huge fan of Beef Wellington I went with that since that is what they are known for. It did not disappoint, just as good as any I have ever had. We did not have the appetizers so I can not comment on those but everyone's dinner came out perfectly. Our server was very accommodating and very on top of things without being overbearing. The restaurant is in a historic inn and has all the charm and character you could ask for. It is not an inexpensive dining experience but worth the money.

dinner with a group in a private dining room. Nice view on the garden. The tournedos with pepper sauce was of great quality. Wine was very fine.
