Description: Since 1735, the Buckeye Tavern, located in Macungie, PA, has been a local landmark, serving the finest in tavern food and libations to generations of regular patrons and out-of-town guests. Opened as an inn and hotel in 1735 and operating through the late 1800s as the East Macungie Hotel and later as The Load of Mischief, the property has long been in the business of serving customers with our own unique local style — a blend of true hospitality and fine food.

Wonderful corn-crab soup with short rib sliders and wine. Great atmosphere. Get there early, you may find a line outside if you don't but it moves quickly.

It was so sad to learn 3 years ago that the Buckeye had had such a horrific fire. For a time, it was uncertain whether it would be rebuilt and reopened for business.

Thankfully, the owner did rebuild and the "new" Buckeye is great! It's menu is pretty comprehensive and the food and decor is perfect for a great evening out.

Be sure to also try the Alburtis Tavern! Its owned by the same person and it also has lots of character, a great menu and a very cool train theme going on there. Capitalizing on the train that runs next to it, each time the train passes by, they spin a wheel and some lucky person wins a free beer!

I'm a frequent patron. Nicely decorated place with high ceiling and good lighting.
Never been disappointed in the food. Service is sometimes a little slow when the place is full, which is almost all the time - its very popular with locals - but not too bad. Excellent variety of options on the menu. My biggest complaint is the space which the 20-or-so-seat high-top table which separates the dining area from the bar takes up... Very, very cramped seating (seats touch side-to-side when not in use), and very cramped proximity to the tables in the dining area - no room to move when all seats are full. Not the best use of space as far as I'm concerned. I'll never accept seating at the high-top again - I'll wait for a regular table. Aside from that gripe, I've never been disappointed in the service or the food. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.

Nice place. Service decent as well. Shrimp fondue and lobster ravioli were very good. Legend has it this place is haunted pre and post fire, but saw no ghosts lol
