Owner description: The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

Very good & interesting museum. They worked hard back in the 1800s for these pretzels. You should take the tour and visit this cute little pretzel museum to learn the history of pretzels & prayer!

This was such a fun little stop! We showed up just as a tour was about to begin - the cashier squeezed us in and we were off. The group was a perfect size for the facility and the guide was full of information - he was humorous and easy to hear/follow. The tour itself is quick but very educational - you get to practice pretzel twisting as well as get a great history lesson and some giggles. You get a free snack bag of hard pretzels at the end but can also purchase soft pretzels and other goodies in the gift area at the end. All are delicious!

Not knowing what to expect, we happened to make this our first stop in our day touring the area. The tour of the factory is worth every penny of the $3.50 admission price (includes a pretzel twisting lesson and a "diploma"). It's a total of about a half hour, but it goes fast and is full of fun and interesting facts and information. The little store there is a treasure - not big, but good quality and very reasonable prices. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET STURGIS SOFT PRETZELS!!! The soft pretzels are kept very fresh (thrown out if not sold within 2 hours) and they are amazing at only $1 each. We are going back in the morning before heading home just to get some more of those! Well worth the stop! Make sure to hit Wilbur Chocolates afterward - they are close to each other and it's also a fun place - about to write a review on them!

We were a bit disappointed by this bakery. We didnt go on the tour, so maybe we missed a lot that way. They did have a nice store area and we got some pretzels at a good price. Their pretzels are very good.
