“Sad decline in lovely old building”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We went for a celebratory (translate expensive) dinner in this beautiful old "house type" building only to pay a lot for a meal that was not very good. The salad was pretty, well plated to look elegant but the ingredients were not fresh! The greens were limp. The pear was "old - maybe long refrigerated. My husband ordered filtet well done... no pink. It came out medium rare. We declined desert there and went to McDonald for a fantastic ice cream fudge sundae that cost $1. We were very disappointed and understood why we were the only couple in the lovely dining room. The bar seemed lively on the way out and I would recommend that bar scene.

“Superb in all respects”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

There is no shortage of excellent restaurants in Philadelphia's Western Suburbs. We find Vickers Tavern the best of them. The cuisine is rich, delicate and imaginative. The service is attentive without being familiar. The ambiance is warm with restrained and tasteful decor. All combines for an effect of ellegance.

What's most appreciated is the menu which avoids the cliches and offers not just one, but several of the less common entrees--canard, lapin, bison, venison. Most recently we had savory duck and fork-tender venison, each in a lovely demi-glace with collards and risotto al dente. The food was succulent and the house red merlot and cabernet were quite exemplary.

It's clear that Vickers uses only the finest ingredients.

“Wish Food Matched Service”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Beautiful interior - warm, cozy bar area, pretty dining rooms with fireplaces. Service was perfectly attentive yet not all over you. I'm sure if I mentioned our brie-en-croute app. was stone-cold in the center, they would have immediately taken it back... Sole entree was just good, a bit over-cooked; presentation (accompanying veggies) were boring. Nice wine selection by the glass (and bottle). My friend liked it more than I did. And I really wanted to love it - former owner has reclaimed the place. I'll be back because of the atmosphere/service - with hopes of improvement from the kitchen.

“Step back into classic fine french dining”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Recalling days gone by when butter wasn't an enemy and classic french structure produced heavenly results, Vicker's delivers time and again. The service is attentive and many of the meals are prepared at tableside.(From a classic caesar salad to steak dianne to crepe suzette.....all are performance art and delicious) Their escargot is amazing, the best I've ever had. This is a perfect place for a romantic celebratory meal, and yet.....just stopping by the bar for a bite is just as delightful because the staff is friendly as well as attentive. So go if you yearn for the days of Julia Child, the golden Mad Men days where sole was sauced and so were you, where one meal made you feel like a million. Splurge....Vickers defines the word.
