“Best in the World!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

We have been season pass holders for 8 years and will keep coming back dozens of times each summer. This is such a great place for families to come and have a great day. The new wave pool is amazing and we could spend all day in it. Idlewild has been voted best kids park in the world a few year running now and they truly are.

“So fun”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

We've been there two summers in a row now. It's wonderful and shady--a great place to walk around in the summer. You don't really have to contend with lines--it's a lot of fun. There are many different sections to explore. Many things for kids of different ages to do. A really pleasant vacation spot for our family. There are also some lovely places to stay not far away. We've started spending a day here as we travel elsewhere.

“Nice park, though not what it used to be”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

I have lived near Idlewild Park for almost 50 years and have been going there just as long. I have seen the park go through many changes, and have always returned each season for more fun. The park got a big boost when it was bought by the Kennywood family in the 1980s and more money was put into it to build new attractions. The park did really well until the last few years, when the Kennywood family sold its parks to Palace Entertainment, a company based out of Spain. I immediately saw the changes in that first season - less employees to run the rides and concession stands, less attention to the landscaping, and overall employee dissatisfaction (probably from being overworked). There are some days when a good many of the rides are not even open because there is no one to run them. That is a real shame, especially for people who don't have a season pass and only go to Idlewild once a year.

Despite what I wrote, my family and I still return to Idlewild every summer because there are still a lot of nice things about the park. They have a water park with a really nice wave pool and an area with water slides for the kids. All of the rides are pretty much kid-friendly,and, as my son says, "awesome"! Idlewild is still very family friendly and you can bring your picnic basket into the park if you don't want to buy food there. They have trick or treating in Storybook Forest in October, and this year they will be having Oktoberfest duirng two weekends in September. They normally add one new attraction per year, which is probably their justification for raising the price every year. I recommend this park for families with young children and grandparents who just want to take a nice walk in the park. Only thing is, there is an admission charge even if you don't ride. Kids under 2 are free.

“Nice Family Park”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

I grew up not far from Idlewild. Our school picnic was held there every year. We took our kids there multiple times. Mostly small time rides. The water park is very nice. It's not like Kennywood, so be prepared.
