We decided to try The Road Toad Restaurant, Ligonier, PA, in celebration of our first wedding anniversary after reading several good reviews. Big mistake! My husband ordered the crabcake dinner and I ordered the crabcake, shrimp and scallop dinner. The salad was wilted and warm (the dill salad dressing was excellent), the bread was tasteless and the butter was about the same. We ordered the parsley buttered potatoes and the larger chunks were not cooked completely. In all fairness, the seafood was good. However, at $75, which included each of us having a glass of wine, we could have gotten good seafood and a salad, vegetable, and potato at our local restaurant for about $40 and it would have been excellent, but we wanted to try this restaurant. We drove to the restaurant from Indiana, Pennsylvania. We do not understand why several people rated this restaurant so highly. Perhaps we did not select what is good at this restaurant. This is our first and last time to dine here. We so much wanted this dining experience to be a good find as the restaurant has many good food choices. We were going to bring our friends if this turned out to be a good experience, but this isn't going to happen.
