“Wonderful Place!!!”
Reviewed November 15, 2010

My husband and I stayed here for one week. When ever visiting this area again I will def. stay here. It was very affordable, and they staff was so helpful. One night we just wanted to stay in and order pizza we call the front desk for suggestions and they even called the pizza place to ask if the delivered instead of just giving us a number. The pizza place didn't normally deliver but they did to us because the inn gives them business... The lady at the front desk even brought our pizza to our door. Also at check in they showed us to our room and offered to help us carry our bags in. We stayed in a jacuzzi suite which was very spacious and very clean! Everyone we met at this inn during our stay was outstanding! The grounds of this inn was very clean and neat as was our room. We loved this place!

We have stayed at this hotel for several years....and still have not learned our lesson. While the decor and surroundings are excellent, the sound-proofing and staff behavior are deplorable. Every year we complain about the noise and are simply told "we're sorry" - and there is no change. You'd think we would have learned our lesson - but we did not until this year. I arrived at the hotel at 2:00 PM and asked if our room was ready. I was advised by a snotty woman at the front desk that it was not and I could not check in until 3 PM even it it was becuase "check in time is 3PM". I left and came back in 90 minues and was escorted to the room (an executive suite). On the way to the room - I mentioned that we requested a quiet part of the hotel because of our history with noise and the ability to hear EVERYTHING going on in otther rooms. She assured me that this was a "special" room and that noise should not be a problem....she was wrong. In addition to the snotty employees and lack of sound proofing...the quality of the breakfast has deteriorated significantly. The room breakfase area was extremely crowded and you could not enjoy yourself. There were no plates, the food was out and there were delays in refilling the chaffing dishes, the milk was warm and biscuits were completey gone a huge disappointment. Dinner at Mazzi was interesting. While the food was ok (certainly not work the $125 per person we paid) - the service was so pretentious it was comical. They need to get a grip. Bottom line - we will not be returning and to the hotel or the restaurant and they need to get a grip. They are not as good as they think they are.

Stayed one night during a tour of Pennsylvania. Room was excellent. Chose a suite with separate sitting area which had a sleep settee. Brekfast buffet was very good. On site restaurant was expensive but you could eat in the lounge for a lot less.

Stayed in “The Wine Cellar” for two nights and while eating at Mazzi was too formal for what we were looking for, we sat at the bar in the lounge both nights for dinner which were great experiences. The lounge has a nice feel, friendly bar tenders, its own casual menu and the ability to order off the Mazzi menu. The nice thing about the lounge menu is that everything comes with a unique twist, whether you order a sandwich, burger or fries, there is a uniqueness to the ingredients and the presentation; and the fries…. shoe string with seasoning salt and a mustard mayo dip… simple, but amazing. Breakfast is similar in that the hot dish is a unique variation of a standard dish. If you are lucky enough to find French toast on the hot plate, make sure you try it.

The wine cellar room is truly unique with it’s lower level garden entry, exposed stone walls, exposed beams, kitchenette and your own private wine cave. You are in the basement of a 120 year old house, so just relax and expect that you may from time to time hear people walking above you, or water running down drains, its part of the ambiance.

The buildings and grounds are either well preserved or well designed to reflect turn of the century buildings. While there is little to nothing within walking distance of the Inn, geographically you are about an hour or less from Philadelphia, Hershey, Lancaster, Kitchen Kettle Village and the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country.

Our only complaint is that housekeeping didn't leave us the home made cookies which each room is supposed to get, but the front desk and lounge overcompensated whith cookies and biscotti when they found out.

Amazing accomadations (i had a jacuzzi suite, and it was freakin sweet). The food was fine dinning quality (but expensive, wait for late evening when they serve the "Lite Fare" menu: 3 course meal for $15 can't be beat!). The service was unbeatable. The gentleman at the front desk grabbed an umbrella and escorted me and my bags to my room. I've never had anyone else ever do that anywhere I've ever been.

This hotel does not scimp on the decor but, does on sound proofing, layout and small design flaws. We stayed at the Amos King Barn and were up all night listening to what could be described as a trombone being blown. I called the desk at midnight and said about the sound and that there were also guests at the pool and we could hear them like they were in our room. He said it was busy and he had not been able to make the rounds. He did not offer us a new room. So we listened to this awful noise every five minutes or so. We did not get any sleep. I called at 8am not happy and the girl said she would look into it. This room is also against the very small pool and I believe people may get to their rooms thru this area too. We got a new room for the next day but, was never offered any type of small refund. This room was $189/night(sometimes $259) When I went to look at the large soaking tub it had gray dust bunnies in it. The room needed a good dusting. Also both rooms had very dim lighting. There was not enough light to put make up on! Both rooms had light switches far from the bed or areas you would expect and some switches you did not know what they were for?? The Amos room had two towel hooks in this lg bathroom and there was no where else to hang or set your things. One luggage holder. The second room had a soap dish in the shower and that was it. No shelf for shampoo or hooks for wash cloths. The second room's closet smelled like mildew. My husband quickly closed it. The positive is the decor is very nice and the soaking tubs were spacious. PS. Went to the spa and asked a question about the pedicure and manicure scents and the girl did not know the answer. I planned doing that but, for a "higher end" place I decided I was just turned off at that point.
