“A local's review - Terrible service!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

I am born and raised in this area and have gone to Trainer's several times and have never been let down - until now. My husband and I walked in and sat at a booth at the bar and waited for several minutes until it dawned on us that the TWO bartenders who saw us where not about to come over and take our drink/food order. In fact, after they saw us sitting there every time they walked past us they made it a point to look elsewhere. WTF!? We've both been waited on by the bartender before when she was a waitress at other restaurants in the area and knew her reputation - it sucks.

We decided to try the dining room (we were both stoked for the beer and food specials so we decided to stay) and were seated right away. The waitress comes over with pen in hand and asks what we to drink. No hello's, how are you - just business. Our appetizer came out with our dinner even though we asked it for it first (hence the word appetizer) and after my husband was finished with his beer, he placed it on the edge of the table signifying he wanted a refill. Our waitress walked past without saying a word. If it wasn't for the bus girl we wouldn't have been asked if we wanted more drinks.

The foods okay, the service sucks. For anyone staying at the hotel and is tired and hungry - please don't go to Trainers. Make the trip down the road to what used to be Platz's now called PJ Whelihans. The service is awesome, the beer is good, and the food is good too.

“What we expected”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2012

Stayed at the Hampton Inn next door and needed a place to eat on a Sunday evening. Tired and hungry, the restaurant is within walking distance..so off we went. Typical pub atmosphere, but not busy. Food was good, hot and alot. Husband had beef barley soup and a Cobb salad. I had a crab cake sandwich. All typical pub fare. Service was so-so. Slow to check on how we were doing and never asked if we wanted another drink. (Sales loss!) All in all an experience we expected from a local pub.

“Typical Pub fare & atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2012

We stayed at the Hampton Inn next door and were tired so we did not look for a place to eat, we just went next door to this place. It was fine for what it was. Typical pub fare, burgers, nachos, chicken sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, etc. We ate outside but popped in for a minute. There was a bar area as well as some tables inside. The atmosphere was not quite what we were looking for which was why we ate outside, but it was fine for what it was. The service was a little slower than expected, but that was the only thing close to a complaint.

“Try PJ Whelihans instead”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2012

Stayed at Hampton Inn nextdoor. Desk clerk said two closest restaurants were PJ Whelihans 1/2 mile down the road and Trainers next door. Whelihans was our first choice but we didn't realize you had to turn off the main road to get to it. Couldn't find it so we went back to Trainers. Big mistake. Service, price, ambience, and caesar salad were good. Babyback ribs and Prime rib were mediocre at best. Big blob of mashed potatoes were watery and tasteless. My wife said they were definitely instant. We took one bite and left the rest on the plate. Same thing with the huge bowl of cole slaw. Nasty. The Onion rings were decent. Wouldn't go back if the meal was free.
