Visited this establishment on a weekday and arrived around 11:15am. The atmosphere of the place is great. Plenty of seating and even limited outdoor seating is available. The wall above the bar area is neatly decorated with large LCD televisions, so one is able to watch sports and even some news on their lunch break. We were kindly greated and seated. The restaurant was not packed, so there were plenty of seats available. We encountered a problem with the service. It took about 15 minutes after receiving drinks for the waitress to return for our food orders. It then took between 30 - 45 minutes for our food to arrive. At this point we needed to eat super fast in order to get back to work on time. Time between being seated and food arrival was about 1 hour. Most companies only allow for a 1 - 1.5 hour lunch break. I do not blame the waitress, but rather the extreme lack of adequate staffing on the floor, as well as in the kitchen. The food did arrive hot and was very good. The chips that came with the burger were clearly bagged chips from a grocery store. I would think a place like this might be able to fry up their own homemade chips for a touch of class, but overall everything was good. The price is also not bad, which helped me cope with the slow service. Overall, the place is nice and the menu is full of great choices at a reasonable price. Just be cautious about the amount of time you have available before entering through the doors.

We weren't there for the bar scene which seems to occupy a great deal of the time and effort put into the place. However busy, our waitress was as attentive as possible. The food was bbq-style and delicious.

This place was formerly the ill-fated Cravings, an ambitious restaurant, bar and coffee house. After Cravings folded, the property was vacant for a good while until the Smokehouse Tavern came along. The ST takes up only a portion of the space that was used by Cravings, but the dining room is spacious and airy, with large glass windows. The sizable bar is not in a separate room, but right in the dining room. The room is attractive and welcoming. I went right for the spare ribs, one of my favorite dishes. They were very good, meaty, tender and accompanied by a sauce that was deliciously tangy and not too sweet. Paired with icy-cold draft ale, the ribs and their included side dishes -- coleslaw and macaroni and cheese -- made for a tasty meal. My wife had chicken fingers and pronounced them delicious. I note that other reviewers commented on the service and I have to chime in. Although we visited off-hours (mid-afternoon) and there were only three customers in the whole restaurant, service was indifferent. Once our food had been delivered, the waiter never checked back to see if we needed anything or to ask how the food was. We had to track him down to get the check. This is a handsome venue with reasonably priced, good food. They really need to work on the service.

This place could be so great. The problem is the service is just so slow. Its not so much the servers fault, there just isnt enough of them. Also they seem to really be in need of some sort of floor manager. The hostesses are always nice and friendly and so are the wait staff. While there the bartender had no idea how to change the channels on the tvs to put on the game we wanted to watch. It took her over 15 minutes to figure it out. Then when our food came out, the food runner took our food and walked it all around the bar seeming to auction it off. We were not at the bar so he took the food back to the kitchen and then it sat under the heat lamp for another 10 minutes until he figured it out. And can we please stop with the customer bringing up their check to the hostess? Is this a diner or a restaurant? Get the waitress to take care of our bill. This is falling into the trap that a lot of successful restaurants fall in to. They are very crowded and doing well so they think that the status quo is working. They dont hire new staff cause they are doing so well but their service suffers. It will start to decline once people get fed up with the slow service.

We really like some of the food--the pulled pork and turkey and big burgers and the tenderloin sandwich. We usually sit at the bar, and depending on the bartender, the service can be great or lousy. There's one bartender in particular who tends to ignore everybody, which can be annoying, especially since we usually go in when it's not very crowded. The menu doesn't have a lot of entrees--it's mostly sandwiches and pizza, etc.--but it's good for lunch or a very casual dinner.
