This is truly the most undesirable hotel we have ever stayed at. We booked here due to a block of rooms being reserved for out of town wedding guests. Making a reservation was the first nightmare. The hotel only takes reservations until 5pm; it took several calls for them to help us. When they finally answered our call, we were told that the hotel was full however; family members called after us and were able to get a room not only in the hotel but in the reserved block. We were able to book online and were told by the front desk help during our stay that we were lucky to have a room because they were overbooked by five rooms that night. We were not feeling so lucky as the first impression upon walking into the lobby was that we'd entered the penguin exhibit at the zoo. The terrible smell was overwhelming. After continuing through the halls which were part of a confusing layout, we discovered additional smells reminiscent of an old, damp, musty basement. Our room had dead bugs on both the chair and bed as well as urine next to and on the back of the toilet. This remained through the next day's cleaning and we had to call housekeeping at 9pm that night after a day out to take care of it. While they did come to clean the mess, we had additional frustrations with housekeeping as we were woken at 8am each morning, when they were heard speaking loudly to each other down the hall and laughing. This hotel calls itself a "resort" and I'm sure it was lovely when it was first built but the hotel is in bad need of an update. When other members of our family asked what recreation was available, they were told that all of the basketballs, etc. were flat. There are many hotels in the immediate vicinity so we would definitely recommend booking elsewhere!

We had a pleasant stay for two nights. The room was very spacious and clean. The next morning, hung out the sign for maid service and came back about noon and all was done. Enjoy our visit. Restaurant was very good. Recommend this location.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side are quieter. The pool was great.

We had our wedding reception at the Lancaster Host Resort on June 1st and everything went really well. Every guest enjoyed the food, the drinks, and the experience. Raquel was very accommodating swapping out beers and food that we wanted with our package. She really went above and beyond with getting the wedding party hors d'oeuvres while we were still taking pictures so that we would not go hungry. Everyone really enjoyed cocktail hour, again the food was great! Overall the Host met our expectations for a nice wedding reception. Also, the room rates were fair as well for people spending the night. The rooms are a little dated but everything was clean.

We were looking for a nice hotel with an outdoor pool for a weekend getaway with our 3 year old. We landed at the Host as every other place was sold out and they happened to have a cancellation. We are particular when staying with our son, mostly for cleanliness. This place was not clean, the room smelled like urine and the outside area around the pool and vicinity smelled terrible like a dumpster with rotten food. We were told we were upgraded as it was the only room available but overlooked their pool. The back door that went to the pool wouldn't shut from the outside so we had to leave our door open.. This place is in real need of a remodel and cleaning overhaul! We will never stay here again.

The hotel was old and the tv's were old analog boxes and the water was rusty. But the only good things about this place was that the staff was nice to you and dealt with your complaints. Also the housekeepers did a wonderful job cleaning my room.

I lived in Lancaster when this hotel was first built and it was the class of the city. Over the years, like me, it's become tired and dated. Our room had several issues. Most annoying was the thermostat that actually sputtered and spit water each time it activated. It's an old analog type and located next to the bed so this was an issue. I have no idea why it spit water but I had to turn the AC off and lower the setting to 50 degrees and it would still hiss and whine occasionally. Luckily, the night time weather was cool enough that the AC wasn't needed. The faucet in the sink was broken, but usable, if you could figure out the positioning of hot and cold. The shower curtain rod was sagging which meant you could not stop water from escaping and covering the floor during your shower. The sink was cracked and delaminating. There were holes in the bed blankets. The towels were old, thin and discolored. Conversations in adjoining rooms were easily heard even if they were at normal decibels. Loud conversations were annoying, especially late at night, etc., etc., etc.......
We stayed here with our grandson about eighteen years ago and went back because of price and location. We took our six year old granddaughter this time because we liked the fact they have indoor and outdoor pools. When we arrived, the desk clerk offered me an upgrade to a poolside patio room. It was $66.00 extra for our three day stay and the clerk said it would be great for our six year old. I went for it, but there were a few problems here also. There was a dangerous sink hole about 18 inches deep at the corner of the walkway. The nearest gate to the pool was locked for the first two days of our stay which meant we had to walk around to the main entrance. But the worst occurrence was the after hours party that happened on our last night. The outdoor pool is supposed to be closed after 9:00 pm but a loud, boisterous party was in full swing at 9:30 that night. It sounded like it was right in our room and awoke our granddaughter. I called the front desk and was told that the manager had given permission for the party, but that it would be over at 10:00. I told them my six year old was awakened by the party and I never would have booked the upgrade if I had known there would be an after hours party. I was told I could take it up with the manager (I got his name) the next day when we checked out. However, the next morning there was an adjusted bill under our door with the $66.00 refunded.
So, after all that, how do I rate the hotel? As you can see, I gave it three stars because it does have a great location and good rates. We're not real picky people and could live with most of the problems but we won't be back because of the cumulative effect. It's up to you, dear reader, to weigh my comments against your own wants and needs.

My wife and I had our wedding at the Lancaster Host in May, 2013. Raquel Sanchez was our wedding coordinator and she was fantastic! She made our ceremony and all if our guests feel important and everything was done as planned. The facilities and the staff were very professional and supportive. All of our guests commented on the reception and how much they enjoyed the food and staff.

The prices are very reasonable, we had an open bar with waiter service and it did not break the bank.
The location was perfect as our families were coming from Connecticut and New York Nd New Jersey, as well as nearby PA.
Most people came for the whole weekend to take advantage of the outlet shopping in Lancaster so that was a huge bonus!
