Description: During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

Second time for dinner here in the past few months. Every aspect is really quite excellent: service, attitude, food, presentation, interiors. Definitely liked the bibimpap. It seems a little peculiar that two high end restaurants are right next to each other. As far as we know, the two have different owners. The only attribute with John Jeffries that may dissuade from the experience are the prices: this place is expensive. Especially for a small city such as Lancaster. For example, one person in our group ordered a double espresso. It was priced on the bill as two single espressos, and came out to $7 dollars. Ouch! The typical high end restaurants doesn’t usually simply charge twice the price for a double espresso. Anyhow, I suppose it is consistent with the hotel it is in, which is the nicest/most upscale in Lancaster.

They have a good wine selection, though not great. Good wine pricing. Salad was good, NY strip steak was quite good bit overpriced. Deserts were very good. It's also a nice atmosphere in an old tobacco warehouse. Overall, a really good restaurant but overpriced for the quality. Beyond the atmosphere, there's nothing memorable about it.

What a surprise to find such an exquisite dining experience for a party of gluten-free vegetarians and a pescatarian. First, the atmosphere was splendid with intimate seating and lovely low lighting. The wine list was extensive and we loved our choices of a local Riesling and an Argentinian Malbec. Sergio, our server, was gracious, knowledgeable and helpful. Always a pleasure when a restaurant goes beyond pasta for vegetarians and the chef outdid himself with gluten-free vegetarian dosas, a cake of lentils, garbanzos, rice wrapped in a rice crepe topped with sweet potatoes and seasoned to perfection. The fish eater in our party ordered the Alaskan black cod and claimed it was the best! We are travelers who have dined in world cities known for their cuisine and found this to measure up to some of our best dining experiences. If you don't mind spending money for great food, this is the place to go in Lancaster.

Amazing seasonal farm to table dishes! I cannot say enough about our meal at this fabulous restaurant! The shrimp and grits, the pork belly love and the lamb shank were all to die for...and their prices were reasonable. Take my word since I live in a very expensive city!

We loved what this wonderful restaurant had to offer in terms of beer and wine. I had or rather several smooth, vibrant glasses of Cabernet Franc from Pinnacle Ridge. My husband ended up with the IPA, which rocked his tastebuds!

Last, please ask for Sergio to be your server. He is a kind, personable waiter to whom we felt a connection in all things relating to food and wine. So BRAVO to the chef, the staff and to Sergio for making our night out in Lancaster a special one!

We had the pleasure of eating here for the first time and realy enjoyed it. The ambiance is really nice and the food even better. I love shrimp & grits but haven't had really good ones in this area...I have to go to South Carolina for the best ones!! But I took a chance and ordered it here, and it was PERFECTION. Ahhh just writing about it makes me want to go back!! The have unique things on the menu which a "meat & potatoes" person might not love, but I'm sure everyone could find something they would enjoy. Some friends took us there who said it's their favorite place in Lancaster, and I think it is ours as well!! We really enjoyed the small plates on the menu and found 2 of them to be quite filling. Of course we had dessert as well and really enjoyed the creme brulee!! This would be an AMAZING place for a rehearsal dinner in the Lancaster area. Don't miss this gem!!
