Description: During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

“Rare Gem”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I went to the John Jeffries restaurant because we had heard positive reviews of it. We arrived a bit early and sat down at the bar. The bartender greeted us immediately and served us with a friendly smile. We were seated in the restaurant promptly at our appointed time. The dining room is very attractive and was not at all noisy at 5:30 PM.
Hunter, our waiter took our food and drink orders promptly and remained attentive and aware of us throughout our evening without being obtrusive. I can't remember having better service!
The food was excellent. Lobster Bisque was just right with a chunk of lobster in it and the duck leg was delicious along with the veges surrounding it.
We will definitely be returning soon!

“Commitment to Local Sourcing of Agriculture”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

As a person involved in agriculture, I really appreciate the commitment that JJJ has made to using local agriculture product in the dishes on its menu. Personally, however, I am not much of an explorer when it comes to food and I find the menu kind of funky. Portions are also a little smaller than I usually am used to. The atmosphere is great. Parking sometimes gets full.

“Romantic restaurant is a hidden treasure ”
Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

We dined here as a late Valentine Day celebration and the service at the bar and firing our meal was so superb. It is evident that the team works together to provide an excellent dining experience. The food was simple delicious and original. My husband had the bim bop as an appetizer and the truth(steak tartare) both were excellent. I had the duck over a sweet potato mash also excellent. For dessert we had French press and peanut butter cheesecake. I have also dined here with a large group that was also an excellent experience!
