“Hopefully it was an off night!”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

Tulsi had been one of our favorite restaurants. The food had been excellent, service good, and the atmosphere relaxing. However, on a recent visit, things were quite different. Perhaps management has changed (again). We were seated promptly, our drink order taken right away and our food order within a reasonable time. Then the wait started. After about 50 minutes, we enquired about our order. We also began to notice that other parties, there before us were only beginning to get their orders. We were told our food was just about ready...and half an hour later it appeared. The wait was one hour, twenty minutes. We had also ordered a side of na'an (a sort of pita bread)...and you would have thought that at least that would have been brought out earlier. It wasn't. Also, in the past, some deep fried thin bread with various sauces was provided automatically when the order was placed, but this was no longer provided either. The food was OK, though those of us who had ordered their usual favorites all indicated that the food was not the same as on previous trip (good, but not exceptional). The restaurant was busier than usual, but still, the exceptional wait, change in the recipes, etc. was a bit much. Given the cost, I would expect better (entrees average about $14). Maybe we will try it again in a few months, but we are in search of new place instead.

“Good Indian”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

The lunch buffet is very good, if a bit pricey for us. There is a nice atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. All in all a good Indian place

“Really Good Food, Location/Surroundings Not So Much”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

Been to Taj Mahal right down the road from here, so I thought I'd give Tulsi a shot as well. It's located in a seedy Travelodge motel, and the appearance leaves a lot to be desired. I might be apprehensive about coming here at night, but in the daytime I think you're OK. The decor of the interior is pretty boring, nothing too bad but could use some work to make it nicer, it wouldn't take much.....maybe take the ship's wheel off the wall that was probably here from a former restaurant. We went for the lunch buffet (11.95 on weekends, 9.95 weekdays), and the food was mostly very good.....the saag paneer was possibly the best I've had anywhere, the tandoori chicken was nice and moist and had a wonderful char to it. Nice mix of meat and vegetarian dishes, although the only dish that I thought was very lame was the Punjab Pakora, (although the Pakoras by themselves were wonderful). I like the fact that they use dark meat chicken in many of their dishes, it definitely lends a nice depth to the flavor. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Went on a 45 degree afternoon and it was very cold inside, we had to ask for heat.....why is this so often the case at Indian restaurants....do they think it's good customer service to make their patrons uncomfortable to save a few pennies??!!

“King Indian Cuisine!!!”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

Tulsi uses fresh ingredients and the dishes are not as oily and heavy as other Indian restaurants. Try Naan with goat curry, or Chickpeas dish. portions are large and prices are low."

“Wedding in downstairs hall”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

We had a wedding reception in the downstairs hall under the restaurant and the staff wasn't hospitable, they repeatedly harassed and hassled the bride and family. We did not feel welcome and will not return. In addition the facilities were very dirty and rundown and the bathroom were disgusting. I will not recommend this establishment to any friends or family.
