Owner description: In 1954, the play, “Plain and Fancy” was a smash hit on Broadway. The Broadway hit drew a spotlight as the play was featured around the Amish lifestyle and their home: Lancaster County. This was the tipping point of a tourist boom the progressively grew from 25,000 annual visitors to 2,000,000 by 1960. Due to the increase of tourists and invasion of privacy of the Amish, Lancaster-local Adolph Neuber believe that there should be a place to accurately learn about the Amish, while respecting their privacy. An Amish family opened their home and property to visitors for tours. Since 1955, The Amish Farm and House has been connecting the Amish community and the public. Tour Lancaster County’s Amish Farm and House. Opened nearly 60 years ago, The Amish Farm and House has hosted travelers from around the world visiting Lancaster County. Experience Lancaster County’s Premier Amish Attraction with our farm and house tours.

Vicky M: Thank you for your recent visit to Lancaster County. We're glad you enjoyed a ride on a local buggy ride. We, at the Amish Farm and House, do not offer buggy rides. While the experience of riding in a buggy is unique for some, our tour is much more educational and complete than any buggy ride in the area. Plus, we accept a wide variety of coupons...including our competitor's coupons! Next time you are in the area, please visit the Amish Farm and House. We look forward to seeing you!

Loved to see how the Amish live and how after the tour we were able to stick around and use the grounds. The only downfall was that the tour guide though informative kind of stumble over some questions.

We thought this one sounded nice based on the reviews but when we got there and realized it was in a Target parking lot, we left. We wanted an experience in a farm setting, not while watching people load their cars with their Target purchases. We found a nice place in the countryside to visit instead.

Swimalie: We're disappointed that you jumped to a false conclusion even before visiting us! If you had questions or concerns, wouldn't it have been better to come in and ask or at least check out the property before jumping to a conclusion? Yes, since 2004, Target has been located next to us. But even though we lost the front corn and tobacco field, we still have a picturesque, historic 15 acres tucked between Target and the American Music Theater. Besides the 1805 farmhouse and the various tours, we have a wide variety of farm animals, exhibits, demonstrators, a 3-acre corn maze (in season), fields, meadows, kids activities, playground, large picnic area, walking trails, an 1855 covered bridge, a blacksmith shop and so much more. We are America's first Amish educational site and the most complete in Lancaster County! We hope to see you next time.

Our tour bus took us in the region where the Amish live. We stopped at three different places, where Amish were selling good. All of them were so friendly. One of the places was located at a farm. I had no idea that Amish used solar energy!

After our bus tour, we visited a former farm house and the farm itself. It is now a museum where people like us can learn all about Amish people. This tour was quite informative!

We're glad you had the chance to take the Countryside Bus Tour and explore the back roads of Lancaster County to see the REAL Amish country! This tour was comprehensive and educational. The guide was well versed in the ways of the Amish, she answered all questions with relative ease. I was very hesitant in taking the tour because of the location, it is literally right next to a Target. Take the tour, you will not be disappointed. Plus, there is wood sculptor on the farm who sells wonderful pieces made from branches and twigs.
