Description: If you haven't visited El Serrano along Lancaster's Columbia Avenue lately, you haven't visited El Serrano. Or, perhaps it is more appropriate to say, you haven't visited Peru. Every square inch of the Latin-American restaurant has been extensively redesigned, upgraded and refurbished authentically, with architectural details similar to those of 150 years ago--to the point that stepping through its hand-carved mahogany doors is like entering a Peruvian hacienda. As owner Manuel Torres says, "it's like going on vacation."

“Very delicious Mexican/ South American restaurant.”
Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

This is technically 2 restaurants in one...El Serrano, which focuses on authentic Mexican dishes and Cultures which is tapas bar with more of a Peruvian influence. As a local, I can assure you this is the best upscale Mexican in town, and maybe in the South Central PA area. El Serrano has wonderful food and a Mexican garden/veranda atmosphere. I have not eaten at Culturas, so I cannot speak to the quality of the food but the menu (and a friend's experience) imply it is a bit more expensive and a lot more adventurous (foodies may love it). Wait staff all speak English and most speak Spanish and are always willing to let you practice your Spanish on them. I can't stress enough how good their enchiladas and burritos are...everything appears made from scratch. Very delicious, bring your appetite and your wallet: you will be leaving fat and your wallet will be leaving lean but you will not be disappointed.

“Authentic Peruvian cuisine”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This is so far the best representation of the Peruvian culture and cuisine, main courses as Lomo Saltado, Papa a la Huancaina and Ceviche are just exquisite. The atmosphere and colonial style makes your visit very comfortable and relaxing. Another thing you should try is the fried Ice Cream, it's big enough to share and pretty much delightful.

“Incredibly good food!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

The decor and ambiance of this place was awesome! It's a unique blend of three dining options within one restaurant. We thought we were going to go with their Tapas menu, but opted for their Peruvian menu, and were glad we did. The Peruvian chicken was outstanding!!! I highly recommend. That you go here if you are anywhere near Lancaster.
