The Belvedere Inn food was a nice surprise. A few of us chose the $25 prix fixe and enjoyed 1 lb. of steamed mussels (served in a cast iron pot), a grilled caesar salad and a delicious trout plate that included a fried green tomato and mashed potatoes. We ate outside on the upstairs terrace. The service was casual and friendly (especially since the servers must run up and down a pretty daunting flight of steps with every course!) Would return in a minute!

If you've never had a grilled caeser salad you must go to The Belvedere. You can make a meal of it or have a smaller version on the side. I have liked every thing I've had at this restaurant especially the "love letters" which I heard are coming back to the menu (they should not have taken it off...). The old Victorian building is beautiful and the bar is especially cool, very woody and great bartenders.

One of the best restaurants in Lancaster County if you consider yourself a foodie! Higher end, but worth it! And I live in Lancaster.

For any out-of-towners, please try the Belvedere it is one of the best places in Central PA to enjoy quality cuisine.

I was born in Lancaster and have spent my entire life living in Lancaster County. But the Belvedere is not a restaurant that caters to the "typical" meat-and-potatoes, Lancaster, PA-Dutch pallete.

If you are a foodie. If you like higher-quality ingredients and do not paying a little more for better cuisine than you will enjoy the Belvedere. People who state that the portions are too small for the price are just used to eating TONS of food for a little bit of money out in the farmland. I will admit $12 for three scallops on a plate can seem expensive out here in Lancaster, but the scallops are executed well and of high-quality.

If you are trying to eat at the Belvedere and get a lot for your money, order the Grilled Ceasar Salad. It is huge (1/2 a head of Romaine). If you are still hungry order a pot of the mussles in white wine. First, it is AMAZING. Second, it is MASSIVE. The 1/2 order is about $12 and you have to share it. Get a loaf of their crusty, fresh bread and make a meal out of the giant appetizer.

The restaurant is a cut above most of the restaurants in Lancaster County. It dismays me that CRAPPY restaurants like Olive Garden get better ratings on tripadvisor because the locals are just so used to LARGER portions.

If you want a lovely place to eat on a terrace or a cool place to chill out and listen to Jazz piano on a Friday night, GO HERE. It will knock your socks off. You can not go wrong with their Ceasars or their mussles. And enjoy a nice glass of wine or get an espresso martini (the bartender has gotten me hooked).

Frankly, after living in Lancaster County for some ten years I can say without hesitation that locals don't deserve a restaurant of this caliber. Locals gush at the slop served at the hog and trough "Amish" style restaurants, aka Grandma Sysco's, because what they serve comes off the back of a frozen food truck. So, if you read reviews by locals, take them with a grain of salt.

Actually, The Belvedere Inn is a refreshing oasis among a sea of mediocrity. For example, it can arguably be said that the Grilled Caesar is among the best found in the country. In addition, the Kobe Appetizer served with Ginger Soy Sauce on Nane Bread ranks among the best this reviewer has ever had.

Service is almost always good to very good. It is five steps above most of what is available in Lancaster County, and would place respectably if competing with Center City or NYC restaurants.

That's a lot to be said that a restaurant of this quality could survive where locals actually argue over the quality of "who has the best Ham Loaf, and where the best charblazed roadside chicken leg and thigh can be had. Try it. Chances are if you don't rate it as the best you've ever eaten, you'll still come away feeling like you got your money's worth.
