Lots to see inside this huge venue with 40' high (at least) ceilings. Almost anything you could want from crafts, meats, cheeses, baked goods, fresh produce, seafood, etc. Salvation Army Band played Christmas songs and sang carols from an elevated area the entire time we were there. It was a Saturday, and yes, it was VERY crowded! Fun place.

“One of the best and oldest farmers markets in the US”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

The Central Market is one of the best farmers markets I have visited. This market is the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the US. Great to visit after a few years and see the great variety of organic produce and free range produce available. Best to avoid lunch time rush in order to be able to see all on offer. Great food available.

“Fresh vegetables, wonderful people, great experience”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Central Market is hands down my favorite thing about living in Lancaster! Between the fresh vegetables, homemade breads and treats, and local meats and seafood, Central Market has it all! Just perusing the aisles, you can see and smell all of the amazing food and meet the wonderful people that are truly passionate about their goods. Here are a few of my weekly Market must-haves: Stoltzfus apple raisin donut, mocha from Mad Cup, rosemary bread from Thom's (it's brand new and AMAZING!), turkey thigh salad and roasted turkey from the Turkey Lady, anything from the fresh vegetable stands, ginger and mango stilton from Weaver's Deli, and sunflowers from Rohrer's. The best part of going to Market is discovering new favorites every visit! One thing to keep in mind -- Market is busiest Saturday morning so if you have little ones or are in a hurry, try to go Tuesday or Friday. Have fun!

“A must see”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

We had an opportunity to visit the Central Market on Friday. It was a wonderful variety of Fresh fruits and veggies... Baked goods... Fresh meats and cheeses.... A variety of ethnic foods... Souvenirs.... and lots more. You can eat lunch or get a great dessert there. It's nice to see the locals selling their wares.
There is parking on the street a couple of blocks away and you have a nice stroll downtown.

“Good downtown location”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Central Market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The busiest times are at lunch time. I have gone many a time just to get something to eat when I worked downtown. It is very crowded at those times, so if you have a big stroller, you might have difficulty getting around. There is paid parking available close to the market. Sometimes if you visit the right stand, they might have a voucher to get money off the parking charge. It is a very old building and can get really hot in the summer. I really like walking around and looking at all of the stands. My husband likes the stand that sells German food, he gets to use his German and he loves the cheeses they sell!!! I also like that it is open three days a week. This is usually the only reason why I go downtown any more.
