“Perfection!”
Reviewed December 2, 2010

This was another wonderful visit to our favorite Bed and Breakfast. Lark and Michael, as always, were welcoming and accommodating in every way. Each time we return, it just keeps getting better! We stayed in our favorite room, The Rose Suite, complete with the private bathroom and claw foot tub, two fireplaces and a separate sitting room. The formal breakfast is prepared with attention to every detail, and designed to meet any special preferences or dietary restrictions. A special bonus this visit were the beautiful Christmas decorations. Four trees, each decorated with it's own unique theme, three beautifully decorated mantles, and more throughout the Manor. The holiday season in Lancaster affords a different viewpoint of the area and new opportunities to enjoy the shopping, restaurants and Christmas festivities. Each time we visit it's like coming to a brand new town, while the accommodations are as beautiful and warm as a favorite cashmere sweater.

Elly Tierney, the Inn sitter, was very helpful, while the owners were away. They have taken great care in refurbishing the home to become a B&B. The location is ideal, a short distance from downtown Lancaster. The Loft Restaurant was recommended by the owners, and it was quiet as well as very good. We really enjoyed our visit to Lancaster.

We stayed for 3 nights from 21 September, travelling from Chicago to New York City. Simply could not have asked for a better stay. Totally agree with all previous positive reviews. Although, I am wondering if Lark ever cooked roast pumpkin to have with a main meal - it's an inside joke! We Aussies eat pumpkin as a vegetable.

Have travelled thru the years and stayed at more than an estimated 50 B and B's. this one is absolutely tops. From the location to the rooms to Lark and Michael, the proprietors, you should stay here. The table was set with a different color scheme each day. Food was plentiful, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. They really know how to be fabulous hosts. They helped with plans, provided maps and brochures, and had water/snacks, movies, etc. to make our stay quite comfortable. And did I mention the great sheets? Lancaster and surrounding areas were so pretty. We loved our dinner at an Amish family's house. Can't say enough about how we enjoyed our trip - and staying at Lovelace made it that much better.

I am all about superior customer service...Lark and Michael do not disappoint! Right from the time Michael greeted us at the door to the good-byes, we felt that they had no one else but us to worry about. They were for you, but in a laid back way. The home is beautiful, clean and carefully thought out. The breakfasts went beyond our expectations and the best part was that we were able to dine with some wonderful house guests, you can't do that at a Hotel/Motel!! This was my Husband's first, and although leary at first, he readily agreed it was a great place and experience. The beds were beyond comfy, it was one of the better sleeps I have had in a long time. DO NOT HESITATE to book a room here if you plan on traveling to Lancaster. I am already thinking of when we can get back and book the "rose" room!

It was our first time at this wonderful B&B, when we happened to be in town visiting family. Lovelace manor came highly recommended and we are so happy that we took the chance to stay there. Lark and Michael were so welcoming and informative, they truly made you feel like you were at home. Their attention to detail in maintaining the gorgeous turn of the century home, and the little touches they added, (small decanters of port in the room for nightcaps!) makes you want to tell everyone you know to stay there. Also, the breakfast was fantastic- pumpkin pancakes, custom ground coffee, and a variety of juices (blueberry!) among other things were superb. Being hospitality professionals ourselves, we highly value the small details and care that set places like this apart from a run of the mill hotel experience. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer. However, we were able to take part of our experience home! They have the softest bed sheets we've ever slept on, and they sell them!. We can't wait for them to arrive in the mail.

A little background, my wife and I wanted to get away for our anniversary to enjoy peace and quiet away from our home in New York City. Thank heavens we found this place. Lovelace Manor, which is run by Lark and Michael, is the perfect spot to do just that. First off, the home is gorgeous. Michael renovated the home and he did a beautiful job. It is immaculate and spacious. Walking in their home is like stepping back in time, but with all of the modern amenities. They even have a little kitchenette area where there are free sodas, beer, and coffee for the taking. Everything was really well thought out. I would have to say that this is one of the best bed and breakfasts I had been in. Now upstairs in the guestrooms, the rooms were beautiful and the room we were in (We stayed in the lucasta) had very comfortable beds. What made it even more special was since they knew it was our anniversary, they had rose petals on our bed with chocolates and some port wine for us. What a wonderful and thoughtful gesture. They also had a VCR in the room with a large selection of movies as well.

I had stubbed my toe walking outside and cut my toe up pretty good. They have a first aid kit there and there is a message pad there for any notes you might need. I asked for more band aids and in the morning, I had more band aids slipped under my door.

The breakfasts were outstanding as well. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Michael and Lark were wonderful hosts, keeping us company with warm and wonderful conversation. I'll be honest, if I come to Lancaster PA again, I promise I will stay nowhere else but the Lovelace Manor.

PS. There is parking provided behind the Manor and across the street there is a convenience store opened I believe 24 hours for incidentals.
