Lovelace Manor - Lancaster, Pennsylvania "Excellent"
Date: June 24, 2007
Reviewer: Wegetaroundboston
We have just returned from a wonderful 5 day stay at the Lovelace Manor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We can't say enough about this victorian Bed & Breakfast and the owners, Lark & Michael! This 1882 home had so much charm and was just beautiful! The rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were good and filling - in fact we were so full we didn't need lunch! There were a lot of activities in the area and the owners always had suggestions on what to do. If you are planning a trip to Lancaster, we highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast. I believe you will be very happy!

My teenage daughters and I stayed with Lark and Michael only one night, but it was lovely. Our room was beautiful and spacious. Lark made arrangements for us to have dinner with an Amish family which was one of the high points of our trip--my girls were shocked to learn schooling ends at 8th grade! My girls were also impressed with the collection of videos available on a bookshelf outside of our room. Everything was so nice, I wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed 3 nights in the wonderfully restored Victorian bed and breakfast. Lark and Michael were terrific hosts. They went out of their way to us plan our activities- including making reservations for us to eat with an Amish couple.
The room was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable.
They had a butler's pantry with a one-cup coffee maker for evening coffee or tea, cookies, colas and an assortment of other snacks. They also had chocolates and port in the bed rooms.
We would very much like to go back and visit this wonderful b&b and area of the country!

My wife and I stayed at Lovelace Manor in mid-May. The weather was perfect, the place was perfect and our room was perfect! We just absolutely loved everything about LOVELACE.

Lark and Michael were very gracious hosts and we truly enjoyed spending our 1st Anniversary at their home. We stayed in the ROSE suite, which was simply amazing! Please see PICS below.
It had a King size bed, a private sitting room and an old style bathroom with an antique claw porcelein tub. The decor in the entire room was very designed and of course had touches of the famous poet RICHARD LOVELACE throughout the room and the house. We ate breakfast in the main dining room which was very good! And Lark even had time to stay and talk to us for a bit while we ate. She told told us all about the history of the Manor, how it all came about and all the local tidbits to visiting in Lancaster. She told us that next time we should definetely sign up to have dinner with the AMISH. It sounded like alot of fun because you would be there with other couples and sometimes even Lark and Michael would join. We could sense how much respect Lark and Michael have for the AMISH up there in Lancaster and how important they believe it is to understanding their lifestyle and respecting their privacy at times. DO NOT ASK to take pictures of the AMISH by the way---it is considered disrespectful. But, we did get some general PICS of the AMISH as we drove through the hillsides.

We ate dinner at a great restaurant called "The Pressroom" in downtown Lancaster---just about 10 minutes from the Manor. They have an amazing outdoor patio, which has a 30 foot tall waterfall! The filet mignon oscar and stuffed shrimp were incredible!

On the day of our departure, we decided to take a drive through Lancaster with some of Lark's recommendations. We first went to WILBUR chocolates----ahhh yeah, the chocolate is pretty good by the way. No wait---its Awesome! We then drove to the NATIONAL TOY TRAIN museum and spent some time there. If you LOVE trains, this is a MUST STOP! There are several little shops around the area and some great markets too!

Overall, we just had a fantastic time in Lancaster PA. But, we would probably never consider going back there UNLESS we could stay at the LOVELACE MANOR. We just can't say anything bad about the place. We loved it all. And we will definetely go back there. We sneaked a peak at the other rooms by the way, and we loved them all!

Check out their website too! It has all the information you need!

Thank you Michael and Lark! We will see you again soon!

We have just spent a couple of days at the Lovelace Manor and found it to be a superb B&B. The room was extremely spacious and well laid-out, with complimentary cakes, sweets and drinks always available. The breakfasts were sumptious and different each day and the hosts, Lark and Michael, were very friendly and interesting to talk to. The highlight of the stay was an evening meal with a real Amish family. Lark and Michael and some other guests accompanied us and when we returned we enjoyed a very pleasant evening sharing a complimentary bottle of wine.

We would certainly recommend the Lovelace Manor and would love to visit again if we are visitiing that part of the States.

Look no further - the best lodging the Lancaster area has to offer can be found at Lovelace Manor. Romance and beauty in this meticulously restored and perfectly maintained historic manor house are found at every turn. Two relaxing parlors, two majestic dining rooms, and four unique Victorian themed bedrooms with private bathrooms are just the beginning. Whether you are traveling for romance, relaxation or business there is a room here for you. Your wonderful hosts are Michael and Lark, who bring the charm and hospitality of the south into the details. Not only will you feel welcome when you arrive, you will feel at home and want to extend your stay or come back again real soon. Breakfasts were out of this world, being wholesome, delicious and completely different every single morning. No cold bowls of cereal here! Fresh ground coffee, a wide selection of teas and juices, homemade baked goodies, and a warm satisfying meal are the order of the day. The house is perfectly located and everything you could want to see or do in the area is only a short drive away. They even have a classic billiards room and a outdoor hot-tub in the gardens out back. It was easy to check the availability of the room we wanted and book our room online at their user friendly website. We are frequent visitors to Lancaster to shop in the outlets, antique stores and numerous country shops while relaxing in the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle nearby. It took only about 2 hours to get there from NYC, and within minutes of our arrival we felt free from the stress of everyday life and able to recharge our batteries. Easily the best place we have stayed. We will definitely come back to Lovelace again and again. Hope to see you there!

Enjoyed a 3-night stay at this B&B in early October. The owners, Lark and Michael, are very friendly and interesting to talk with. They were easily accessible throughout the day and provided us much information about the area and helped us plan our days/select restaurants for dinner. The breakfasts were wonderful - Michael's french toast was the best! The Inn is very clean and nicely restored. My husband was concerned at first about how to shower in the old tub in our bathroom but it worked out fine. The bed was very comfortable with the best sheets I've every felt! If you like a modern setting, this is not the place for you, but if antique is acceptable - give them a try!
