“Historical tour, not a ghost tour”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Our guide Randy was very knowledgeable, and handled rude people on the road as well as rude people taking the tour very well. But this is a history tour, not a ghost tour. It was very educational and entertainng, but not for young children. The tour lasted half an hour longer than expected, and while I loved it as I love history, others in the group lost interest after an hour. The guide was a bit long winded, but he was so nice and funny, his personality more than made up for it!

“Don't Waste Your Money”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

Took the tour tonight. Thought we were getting a 1.5 hour candlelight tour and got 45 minutes, asked for a tip and left to find our way back to the start point. Google haunted places in Lancaster, save the $28.00 and a tip.

“Educational & Fun”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

Like others have stated, you really shouldn't expect to see a ghost on this, or any other ghost tour, but I enjoyed it for the education it gave in the local history. Lot's of stories on the Revolutionary War and Civil War era. Enjoyable, and well worth the 90 minutes. We had a large group, our host stated it was the largest group he's every hosted, with 23 people at the 8pm tour. He was very attentive to make certain all made it across the streets, and were there. He wore a cloak and carried a lantern. Yep, lots of stares and comments from passerby's, which some members of the tour group didn't handle well, but my sister and I are used to dressing in costume for Renaissance Festivals, and going to local restaurants in costume, so the stares and comments are nothing. Perhaps next ghost tour we attend, we will also dress in Colonial costume? :) I highly suggest good comfortable walking shoes. There are restaurants in the area, so I'd recommend eating first near Penn Square. Parking lots are nearby for $2/hour.

“Skip it”
Reviewed October 29, 2011

This pertains to the one in Strausburg, which is the sister company of the one in Lancaster.

We've done these in the past at other locations, and while we never expected to see or hear anything, my kids are history buffs and enjoy the stories behind the tours.

This one consisted of a ten minute walk to see the outside of the Gonder Mansion, a slight trip to a smaller cemetary, and then a final stop at the larger cemetary behind it. A little less than an hour. Even with getting to use an EMF detector, it wasn't really worth wasting an evening over.

“For those that like storytelling”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

Don't expect to see ghosts on this tour. You will hear some stories sprinkled with a little history and walk down some interesting alleyways in Lancaster. For 90 minutes of Entertainment it was reasonably priced. To make a fun evening of it, I recommend dinner at one of the pubs or restaurants near the square to start. Not sure the tour would keep the kids entertained for the full 90 minutes. Our guide was a good storyteller so kept it interesting.
