Owner description: We cook like we brew...craftsmanship and quality in every detail. From our housemade sausage and cured meats, to locally made cheeses, fresh dough, on-site garden, hand-cut fries and signature burger grind, there's no substitute for fresh, natural ingredients. Fortunate to be located in the heart of Lancaster County, among some of the richest farmland in the world, we're committed to fresh, local and sustainably grown products. Our menu changes often to take advantage of the seasons, and to utilize the fresh produce, dairy, poultry, cheeses and meats produced on the 5,300+ independent, family farms in Lancaster County. Our obsession for brewing great beer is matched by our passion for great, natural food, so we source our produce and meats from local Lancaster County farmers and prepare virtually everything on our menus from scratch. We smoke our pork, grind our sausage and hand-cut our fries.

I went to the Lancaster Brewing Company on the advice of a friend who went to the relatively nearby Millersville University. He said it was a popular hangout for the local college students.

Directions were kind of tricky as there are many one way streets, but we found the place with minimal problems and parallel parked on the street running next to LBC.

The atmosphere is nice. Very high ceilings, nice antique wood from when this place must have been a factory. You can see the brewing area over the railing across from where you enter.

We all got their pizzas and were not disappointed. Between the group of us, we also tried nearly all of the beers (Amish Four Grain, Strawberry Wheat, Gold Star Pilsner, Hop Hog, and Franklinfest). I know there are seasonals available, as well as a Milk Stout (brewed with lactose). Everything I tried was great, but I loved the Amish Four Grain.

This probably isn't the greatest place for kids (although you could definitely bring them), but if you are in Lancaster and looking for a brewpub, this is a great place to stop. You could also check out Bube's Brewery in Mount Joy.

There's a small giftshop by the door where you can buy merchandise and yes, the ever elusive 6-pack.
