“Amish Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2014

We had the pleasure of hiring a tour guide to accompany us in our car to all of the back road Amish homes and shops. Our Tour guide, Joanne Siegrist was very knowledgable and very sweet. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the Amish culture in a unique way!

“Excellent Heritage stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2014

The Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society is a great resource stop, and introduction to the heritage of Lancaster County Amish and Mennonites. Whether your interest is deep history or cultural curiosity, they offer resources and knowledge to support your pursuit. The gallery section is just excellent - informative yet succinct. The shopping is superb, including both Ten Thousand Villages fair trade world store, and Amish & Mennonite story, culture and heritage items, including a great selection of children's items and videos. At the lower level are the Mennonite and Amish video/slide shows, which are informative and of good quality, but deserve refreshing (developed in the 90's). Also in the building is the Tabernacle, the worship center of ancient Israel in a full size 3-D reproduction, which can enable visitors to make a connection between the ancient times of the Bible, Jesus, all Christians, and Amish and Mennonites today.

Highly recommend the center and definitely pay for the film and the Biblical tabernacle next door. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great introduction to the Amish and Mennonites. Books on sale are very well chosen.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

When one wants to gain an insight into this unique way of life as a community than this is the place to go when visiting this area. Interesting displays and things to read on how it developed and still remains a force to deal with! Knowledgeable staff and willing to deal with any question you want to ask them.
