“LOVE IN THE LAND OF LOVE”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

My husband and I frequent these resorts Cove Haven is our fave. We go at least twice a yr. We are in our early 30s and we LOVE LOVE LOVE the nostalgic aspect of these resorts. There is so much to do in every season at theses resorts. The food is always on point we never had a problem. They always accomadate us with the best they have to offer. I am a Cove Haven advocate we always try and convince frends and family to join us at thes resorts. Yes it can get a lil pricey but who can put a price on relaxation..Love and just being with the one you love the price is the furthest from my mind when im bookin our getaway..cant wait for Feb (the month of love) to go back..THE COVE ROCKS..

Okay, so have you seen the pictures of this place??? If you haven't, before reading, indulge yourself in the heart shaped everything that you will find. In desperation for a place with lights and heat, as we had neither thanks to Hurricane Sandy, we searched the NY/PA area for a place to go. Seeing as though many hotels were already booked, we thought outside of the box. My husband decided it was a good time for a fun, romantic getaway. It was exactly as we had expected! :) First of all, if you do not want to be surrounded by heart-shaped or champagne-shaped tubs, do not go here. If you do not have a sense of humor, do not go here. If you don't like to converse/socialize with other people, don't go here. With that said, if you love your significant other, need some time away together, enjoy the occasional conversation with others, and want to go to a retreat camp for grown-ups, go here!!!
Since this was a last-minute trip and we were trying to save some money, we took the least expensive package. It worked out to be perfect for us! We experienced great customer service on the phone and in person. When we went to our room, we couldn't help but smile. How can you not when you see a round bed and a heart-shaped whirlpool tub?! How often do get to go in one of those? Our room was clean, although decorated for the likes of the 1970's or 1980's. That's okay...you don't go to a getaway in the woods and expect minimalist modern decor! The resort (I like to call is a "campus" because it felt like a grown-up college retreat...except with no school!) was easy to navigate. Everything is walking distance, but there is plenty of parking if you feel like driving (which we did when it was really cold.) Our buffet breakfasts were quite good, our buffet dinner was good, and our sit-down dinner was also very good. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, as we weren't really sure what to expect. The drinks were fun to try, but were a bit pricey. If you enjoy cocktails, we would recommend bringing something to enjoy in your room before/after meals and events.

Events. We were only there for two nights, so we had limited time enjoying the events, however, we did have a good time. You will enjoy them too...if you go with a good spirit and sense of humor. DO go dance the nights away with the live music...that was fun. DO go to the "newlywed, not so newlywed, game" ONLY if you have a good sense of humor and aren't easily offended. It's fun/funny to see the looks on people's faces.

During your meals, you do sit with other couples. Embrace the experience. It can be very enlightening and entertaining. I get that some people want to eat ALL of their meals alone, but you spend the WHOLE day as a couple, why not enjoy a conversation or a meal with other couples. EVERY couple we met was kind and had a pleasant disposition. We met couples from PA, NY, MD, and VA. Some of the couples we met were on their 18th or 37th stay. That is awesome! Maybe that's why so many of them are happily married, because they take the time to have weekend getaways with one another. That doesn't mean we will go back that many times, or ever again, but once is definitely fun!

If you are looking to blend in with crowds, and never talk to a single soul, stay at a big hotel. If you are looking for a very personalized, quiet, intimate experience, go to a bed and breakfast. If you are looking for something in the middle, and you have a good sense of humor, go here.

We really enjoyed our weekend getaway and would happily recommend this to any couple seeking a weekend of refuge with your honey. If may seem overpriced, but with the meals included and the quality time with your loved one, it's well worth it.

Have fun, laugh a little, take some time to take a deep breath, and spend time with your loved one. After all, "love lives here."

The bad- the shower water has no water pressure and the shower head fell off!
No privacy with the bathroom locks and sinks are open as well as shower
The tv reception is bad as well as the one of remote controls was useless and TV's out-dated cannot connect laptop to older model television. Also you buy your own fire logs.
The good- just about everything else they are structured from the time you wake up till you go to sleep all fun activities to rekindle love or just starting! Staff is very friendly. You can even stay on the property after you check out to enjoy more activities make the best of it. It's a lot of fun!!!

My honey and I needed to escape the NYC area the weekend after Sandy and thought this would be a fun trip. We booked the Garden of Eden Suite and drove up immediately. We also go the Passion Package (fire, bath, champagne). The check-in was quick/easy and we got clear directions to our suite. The suite was very nice, in a dated sort of way but well maintained. It had a private pool plenty large for 2 people (4-5' deep), large jacuzzi for two, round bed, fireplace (wood burning - they have logs), a dry sauna, and a large amount of space.

We ordered dinner from the cafe delivered to the room and jumped in the pool. Dinner arrived, the fire was lit, bathtub bubbling (I'll let you fill in the rest). The next morning, we ordered breakfast in bed and both agreed it was a perfect get away if a bit pricey but just what we needed to reconnect and de-stress after a stressful week.

Room Tip: Garden of Eden rooms have no windows and very private. Great to block out, ignore the world, and co...

After the craziness that is wedding planning and the busy day we were excited to head out to the Pocono Mountains the next day on our honeymoon. After an 8.5 hour drive through rain and the crappy drivers of PA we made it to Cove Haven Resort a little past 8 in the evening. Keep in mind we were paying $385 a NIGHT for this place. It was supposed to be all inclusive to include breakfast and dinner. Which we found out on Sunday when we checked in was only from 6p-8p so we had to eat the crappy food from the cafe.

Upon arrival of course we were both super tired and just wanted to get into our room for the night. The welcome center was lovely and gave a warm welcome and congratulated us on our marriage. We set off to see our room and ended up down a service road with a dead end (they gave us wonderful directions). After backing up the service road in the dark and on the side of a hill we went back up the hill and found our room. It was in a row of motel like rooms with water pouring off the roof onto the sidewalk. We couldn’t tell at night but the paint was peeling off of the buildings and none of them had windows overlooking anything. So, once we find our room number we open the door to find...

Stated as facts:

1. No lights on in the room
2. Entered time machine back to 1974
3. Room smelled like smoke (was supposed to be non-smoking)
4. Tube TV with VHS!
5. Couch with stains EVERYWHERE!
6. Cigarette burns on the bed (It also had mirrored walls that where peeling at the bottom)
7. Wall paper coming off of the walls in the bathroom
8. Toilet with no back (Rest stop foot flusher)
9. Pool with cover on and one light working in the room
10. Went to turn on a lamp and stuck my hand in a cobweb
11. Dust EVERYWHERE!!!!!
12. Window AC unit that was loud as heck
13. Roof on one of the cabins was totally collapsed in on itself!
14. The star like lights above the bed went out halfway through the night...
15. Old, non-working alarm clock

Needless to say we headed right back down to the front desk to say that we were leaving in the AM. Front desk guy went to immediate defense and then offered us a Champagne tower room for our trouble. We declined and told him that after a long drive their first chance was the last.

In the morning after we packed up and attempted to use $400 worth of hot water we proceeded down to get breakfast. We couldn’t find the place to eat and no one was around for us to even ask so we hiked back up to finish loading the car. We checked out and the couple in front of us just checked in the night before as well and were checking out. I

I planned this thinking it would be a beautiful honeymoon, NOT! Don't waste your time and money on this hole! The group of people who where staying there were an older crowd, I thought it would be more upbeat and young. I should have known when there were no pictures of the outside of the rooms. It was totally misadvertised!

WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AND NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!

My boyfriend and I went to Cove Haven to celebrate my 25th birthday and when we pulled in we almost wanted to turn right around and leave. I'm the type of person that plans every trip down to the last detail and I was excited about all the resort's promised amenities. But when I read there was snowmobiling, I didn't picture it to be couples riding around in a small 20 ft circle around and around and corny, dirty arcade rooms with outdated mini golf tracks. Our room smelled musty and looked like the setting for an 80s porno. For the price, I would have rather spent my money at a better hotel and just went out for dinner and activities. We made the best of it, but I would definitely never go back again. For my next birthday, I'm looking into going somewhere with nice views, like Vermont, where sites and charming romance can be naturally found... instead of artificially created via heart sculptures and cheesy signs and jammed down our lovebird throats.

Let me start by saying I have wanted to stay at the Cove Haven resort for YEARS. I finally found somone worth taking the trip with and booked three nights- Sunday/Monday/Tuesday- in the Champagne Tower room as a gift to him. Having a long time between booking and actually staying gave me time to research more and I'll be honest- I was a little nervous! We got great reviews from my boyfriend's family and friends who had stayed there in past years but some of the online reviews were downright scary. Those reviews are completely false!! The room was immaculately clean- the "smoke" smell that people complained about was just the fireplace, the carpets were NOT worn, the champagne hot tub "mold" was just minor discoloration from age and was not even on the inside surface, there were no cracked or hanging ceiling tiles, MINIMAL wear on the furniture. Oh, and the recent upgrades were fantastic!! I though the round beds might be awkward but they were the new blush beds with brand new bedding and they were incredibly comfortable!! The flatscreen TV's were a nice updated touch as well as the Keurig. As far as the actual stay- we were never bored. I broke out of my shell a little and participated in some of the contests and games which was a blast! We won the Newlywed Game (as the only no married couple!) which was fun. Archery, pool, the driving range, mini golf, Wii bowling- even just staying in the room! We used the whirlpool hot tub and the pool (which was actually bigger than expected!) every night, the sauna once and the steam shower once- it was nice but the seats are small and a little awkward. Dinner was a blast- I was so nervous about sitting with other couples and we ended up having an awesome time and meeting some great people who we spent alot of time with! The food was yummy and you can get as much as you want, the drinks are a little pricy but we expected that and the entertainment was very fun- I even got to be a magician's assistant! LONG story short- We had the best time and can not wait to plan another trip!!
