Hotel feels old with wallpapered walls, plastic showers and squeaky mattresses. Very poor isolation between the rooms, so if someone is laughing at 1am in the hall or next room, it's seems like 2 steps away. The studio divided with the insert, which gives the feel of separate bedroom and it's pretty cool.

Plenty of activities for everyone. The problems:
--it's open for everyone, so try to play ping pong if there are only 2 tables available or try to bowl, if there is 100 people waiting for 8 lines.
-- they advertise on web site that activity center open at 9am, in reality it's 11am, even pool opens at 10am.
--very poor trained activity center staff, they constantly need to reach activity director, who doesn't carry cellphone, so it's no fun.

But if you came to use their indoor water park and nearby skiing it was organized perfectly and we had lots of fun, as long as it was outside of the hotel.

If your family includes a large group of noisy children, then stay here because you will find many other families like yours. Children were running and playing in the halls until after 10 pm. It was not a restful experience.

The hotel is a challenge to find exactly where you are staying. The hotel is called The Galleria co-located next to the water park. The room accommodations are adequate, though the couch bed is uncomfortable. The pillows were all very thick if that is an issue for you. The hotel needs updating but it is fine. Our room was clean and the staff we encountered were polite. This resort is in the middle of nowhere so plan accordingly and be certain you have enough food with you or plan on utilizing the food available at the restaurants. We had a small kitchen area in our room.

Our room (Slope Side) was a far distance from the front desk. You walk down a hall to an elevator. Then another hall, turn, then another hall to the front desk/pool/pizzeria/restaurant/gift shop. Guests with physical disabilities or movement impairments may need to drive from the parking lot at the back of the slope side rooms down to the front entrance to the Galleria.

If you are going swimming, bring cover-ups or you'll get cold walking the distance. Important: the hot tub is off limits to children. There were no lockers or showers next to the pool. If you go to the water park, it is connected to the hotel through the swimming pool.

Everything does seem to have a price tag, so you may have an additional small fee. Example: for some reason they have Segway rides as an evening event. It is $10 to ride on one.

We stayed at The Galleria for a business trip and were very satisfied with the overall experience.
There is a lot of unwarranted criticism in regard to the resort being outdated. There were a couple of places in the facility that could use a little attention but overall very nice. The room was clean and quiet the staff was pleasant and helpful. It is a very large facility and depending on exactly where you are you may have to take 2 elevators and walk a bit to get where you want to be. This is a great family resort and the grounds are beautiful. The food and drink prices are reasonable. My only complaint is that the price I was quoted for the room was lower than the price I had to pay be sure to get firm final quote including all taxes and fees before you arrive. I would stay there again.

We stayed in a one bedroom "suite" in the Galleria. Being that we paid about $200 for the night and that the pictures of the hotel show a beautiful lake in front, we had assumed that we would be able to see the water. This was not the case. The lake is across the street and down a hill; hardly within walking distance. The room was extremely outdated. Their version of a one bedroom suite was to have a 3/4 wall partician with accordian doors to seperate the bedroom from the main living area. The walls were thin (we heard people walking down the halls, speaking in the room next to us, etc), the toilet was badly stained and the worst part was the mattress. It reminded me of a mattress that you would see abondoned on the side of a highway. It was thin, probably 25 years old, lumpy and gross.

Aside from the mattress and the thin walls, the food was terrible. We only had breakfast, but aside from the chef who cooked omeletts and waffles, it was disgusting. Zero flavor, poor quality, undercooked and cold - blah.

Additionally, the resort did a poor job of salting the roads, and it was dangerous while driving on the property and walking in the parking lot.

So for the good part. The resort has a lot of activities for kids; a nice swimming pool, game room, arcade, waterpark, etc. and if you have children, they would have a lot of fun. If not for the activities, I would have given the resort a "Terrible" rating.

Stayed at the Willowbrook (Building 6) for a week over Thanksgiving and was pleasantly surprised based on the mixed reviews. The room was very clean and we had 2 flat screen TV's, fireplace and jacuzzi type tub. Laundry room on the floor $2.50 per wash and dry load. The only complaint I have is that the mattress was too firm. The The Willowbrook property itself seemed to be well maintained. We had a small snow storm during our stay and the roads were quickly salted and plowed.

The Wilowbrook is only about a 5 minute drive to Galleria. The Galleria is where the waterpark, bowling, arcade room, gym and restaurants are located. It did seem to be a bit outdated.

Water Park- Awesome - Went for 3 days. Clean and really safe. Tons of lifeguards all over the place. Food was decent (about $5 for cheeeseburger) and they had a bar there also!
Arcade - Pricey - Average price is 75 cents a game. Although they have decent prizes.
Bowling - Clean and Modern. They didnt charge us for our 4 year old to bowl.
Restaurant - Smoke House. Standard breakfast buffet with Omelet/Waffle station etc... I think it was $12/pp. They did not charge us our 4 year old.
Pizzeria in Galleria - Not so good. Pizza bland and the sausage and peppers sub was really small.

If your staying here for a week and have a child interested in trains, I would highly recommend you take a drive to Scranton and visit the Steamtown Museum.
