First, the posiive:
We stayed in a one bedroom condo in the Willowbrook section. The room was clean and had a nice gas fireplace, a reasonably well equipped kitchen (although no corkscrew). Laundry was inconveniently located down the hall, coin operated and never available. The location can't be beat if you plan to skii at jack frost. Great location. My 8 and 10 year olds loved the waterpark which was very nice. There is an amazing sledding hill. The kids loved bowling, playing in the arcade a bit and participating in family activities at the galleria like turtle racing and bingo. It was good clean fun. The families by and large are nice people, not pushy or rude. The front desk was efficient and nice.

The cons: we never went to the lodge, but the galleria is well past it's prime. The decor is dirty and old. The pool is just nasty and the dining room was modern in the 70s. The carpets need to be replaced. It was so extremely cold and snowed while we were there and as far as I could tell, no salt had been put down anywhere. Parking lots were sheets of ice and very dangerous with little kids. Or anyone unsteady on their feet. There was supposedly a shuttle bus that I never saw, but which could have been convenient since the property is so large, but only runs every hour so is basically useless. They could also use a better detailed map of the property.
Summary: good for families with younger kids, but definitely not luxurious in the slightest We will definitely be back.

This is the worst place that I have ever stayed at!! The rooms were very old and dirty. Not well maintained by any means. Had a midnight prank phone call which this place is known for. There is no place for breakfast and you have to leave the building for a cup of coffee. It is a shame that the owners have not put one penny into this place for the last 30 years and to call this a resort is an outright crime. You are better off sleeping in your car then spending a night here! Absolute disgrace. Do not expect to get a copy of your bill because the printer does not work at the front desk. I could go on and on but I refuse to spend a another minute thinking about the nightmare.

Room Tip: there are no good rooms!!!

Place is nice, my only negatives are they say everything closes at 10pm, yet they close at 9:40. My toddler was waiting in line (behind a family who was taking 20 minutes and more picking out toys at the arcade) and at 9:40 they said sorry were closed after them. I had to deal with a crying toddler the rest of the night, and we checked out the next morning so he never got a toy. We spent over 200+ at the arcade and they should have stayed open till 10 as said. The workers are mostly rude, they make you check in at the pool (which is really ridiculous if you ask me) the maids NEVER cleaned our room one time, even after leaving the maid sign on the door. We also had a very rude neighbor who yelled at us every time we walked by saying our 2 year old was too loud. Everything else was good our room was really nice with a kitchen.

Room Tip: They treat time share people different then regular hotel people. They made us vacuum our own room...

My wife and I took our two kids to the Poconos for a ski weekend and stayed at Split Rock last month. It was our second time there. The place needs some updating but it was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Galleria. The only negative was one night it took over an hour to get our food at the Pizzaria. It was very crowded being MLK weekend and also a gymnatics competition was taking place. The night manager Miklos was very nice and offered us coupons for free bowling and movies to make up for the wait. Otherwise we had a fantastic stay and skiied at nearby Jack Frost/Big Boulder which are both minutes away. The indoor waterpark was also a big hit with the kids.

Room Tip: The Galleria is where all of the activities are located.

Purchased a family suite water park weekend package for my son and his family for a Christmas gift. Little did I know that I was sending them to two nights of no sleep, prankster phone calls and no use of the Galleria restaurant and swimming pool due to over 100 students inhabiting the place for a swimming event!! The bad stay could have been avoided if only the facility would have expressed a warning as to what historically happens to their guest during this crazy National Lampoon weekend event. I would simply have booked A DIFFERENT weekend! First night they tolerated the noise level of those student running about. The next night my son became a surrogate chaperone at 3:00-4:30 AM along w/the others while they tried to somehow gain control of the NL event. My son has four children + his wife; they were all awake that evening w/ the exception of the two yr old. AHHHH if only they all could have slept like a two yr old! To sum it up the lodge did comp, one night and one dinner with some candid description of what had already been expressed to the night manager which had to be repeated at checkout. Upon learning of their horrible sleepless nights and not being able to use two of the amenities, I found it necessary to contact them since it was not the gift I intended to give my dear sweet family. I made several phone calls before I could even get a manager on the phone. One, who was an assistant was not endearing nor very interested in making good. She finally agreed to comp the meal but not both nights. My family reported the two bedroom suite was nice and they did enjoy the water park and one of the other pools as well as the bowling alley. Beware!

a very nice, family friendly getaway weekend in the Poconos. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a good experience. There is a variety of things to do, including bowling, movies, pool, indoor sports, and of course the water park. Had a great day skiing at Jack Frost - at first we were apprehensive because the ski parking lots were overrun with vehicles. we thought it would be crowded and long lines, but that was not the case. it was an organized and well run family facitlity. i would definitely go back.

This is a great property and we stayed on an Interval Time Share Getaway.
The price was certainly right. We stayed a week from Saturday - Saturday.
Overall impression: This once was a grand place to stay. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was clean and roomy. The kitchen was great for cooking in. The sofas were old and in need of replacement. You sank to the middle. The carpet was dated and stained. The windows did not seal well so there were always drafts - but - you could raise the heating temperature. They had activities such as turtle races (real turtles) you could bet on, bingo and horse races (stick horses). They had a free matinee children's movie and another movie in the evening. Bowling alley, tennis courts and billiards are there. There is a charge for all of the activities except the free matinee.
There is quite a difference between a weekday stay and a weekend stay. The resort is pretty sparsely populated through the week, but the weekends boom. There is a noise problem on the weekends. Plenty of noise in the hallways kept us awake many times through the nights.
The hot tub had a leak which required what seemed like constant water refills and kept the temperature about 98.
This is a great location to many ski resorts. We will probably stay there again and hope for less noise this time.
