“Comparable to Great Wolf's Water Park but overall grounds not the same”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

If you want a FULL resort complete with movie theater, Split Rock is your place. But as far as the water park goes, this is a great resort. It's comparable if not nicer than GWL (if only because there are fewer people!) The resort has a pizza place at this location with affordable pizza that's actually pretty good. Definitely a great option!

We’re sorry you did not enjoy your visit Nettie2001. As I mentioned in the previous response H2Oooohh is in compliance with all governing regulatory statutes and we maintain a very sophisticated air filtration system. Compared with other water parks H2Oooohh’s atmosphere is among one of the best in the Northeast. Despite this some guests are more susceptible to irritation from a chlorinated environment especially during winter months. This is a result of the sharp contrast between the outside environment and the conditions of the indoor environment.
If you paid $24 for an observer admission please contact me at luke.borowy@splitrockresort.com as the observer rates are $15 for the day and $10 after 4pm.
We hope you will give us a try again in the future!

“Poor air quality, beware of some safety issues”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Just got home from this waterpark-- felt the need to immediately warn people of our experience!
This review is strickly based on the waterpark, I didn't experience any other part of the resort today.

We went with a group of friends for a day trip. After about 1.5 hours, we all left in a hurry, as MANY of our group, and others, started coughing uncontrollably. Word soon started spreading (and not from staff, as would have been the decent thing to do), that "anyone who goes near the hot tub", will be exposed to high levels of chemicals, and because of "poor ventilation", may experience respiratory problems. Apparently this happens often enough that they have an oxygen tank in the lobby. Kids were coughing and gagging, and parents getting very upset. A long lined formed for oxygen!

Should have known there may trouble, as soon as you walk in the place, you get hit with very hot, humid air that is stiff with the smell of chlorine. Most people in our group complained of their eyes burning, almost immediately, and we were just sitting in the chairs away from the water.

My daughter didn't experience the severe cough that some did, but while we were leaving, she was begging to get out ASAP, as she felt very uncomfortable there. She was coughing while she was swimming, but didn't realize why- she saw all the kids who were coughing badly, and one of her friends were one of them.
Not one staff member walked around in the lobby, or inside, to explain why so many were coughing- or what to do about it. Kids were lined up to get oxygen in the first aid room. Kids were standing in bathing suits at the outside doors to get fresh air.
Perhaps staff were not around, because they are used to this? The decent thing to do is to offer reassurance to worried parents. Kids were coughing so hard their faces were red, and some gagging.
This place is otherwise very small, and over-priced for how many things there are to do.
The floor was slippery in some areas, be careful when walking!
More than one life guard should watch the wave pool, often the one guard had to turn his back on the deep end, to look at the swimmers in the shallow end.
The locker is $6 & $8, and are very small, a big rip off! Changing area is very small and wet. A day trip to this place in the winter would be very expensive and cumbersome. Perhaps if you stayed in the hotel, you wouldn't have to bring stuff with you, and have to change in the locker room.

Also, for a "mountain resort", the parking lot in front of the main hotel, was very poorly maintained from the recent snow storm. I had a hard time finding a parking spot due to poor snow removal, and there were patches of ice and snow in many of the walking areas.

You have to sign a liability waiver before you get your wrist band, and now I wish I read it...Did it warn of the poor air quality? They ask you to sign this form, written in TINY font, while your hands are full, many people are behind you in line, and your kids are anxious to start swimming. They need to realize that we are signing a form that is not able to be read properly!

Would not recommend this place to kids older than 10 years, anyone with asthma, or on a budget. Proceed with caution. It may be ok, at other times, but I'll never know, as I'll never go back.

We’re sorry the water park experience did not meet your expectations this go around Susan L. H2Oooohh is in compliance with all governing regulatory statutes and we maintain a very sophisticated air filtration system. Compared with other water parks H2Oooohh’s atmosphere is among one of the best in the Northeast. Despite this the “levels of chemicals” can infrequently cause issues.

To quickly clarify the comment about the hot tubs children 18 years of age or less are not permitted into the hot tubs because of the required chlorine levels in conjunction with higher water temperatures. The signs posted along the entrances to both tubs outline this clearly. Children who enter the tubs are more susceptible to skin, eye, and respiratory irritation hence we do our best to enforce those restrictions for general health reasons.

The oxygen tank you mentioned is required by Jeff Ellis and Associates and can be found at every Ellis and Associate lifeguard property.

“Fun place”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Was happy that the inside of building was very warm. After being wet was not sure if I was going to freeze as I was there in December and snow. The staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome. Loved the hot tubs!

“Ideal indoor park for small children.”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

This is a small indoor park that is sectioned off very well for different activities. They are well staffed with attentive guards. However it is does not offer much for preteens and teens.
