Description: Over the weekend my husband and I visited this fantastic German restaurant in the Poconos. It's part antique shop, part BBQ shack, but also has a sit-down restaurant inside with a wider variety of foods, mostly focusing on traditional German cuisine. Everything is homemade and the German hostess/owner (who also cooked some of the food) was very accommodating.

Talk about hospitality! This couple is the warmest loving couple and we had a wonderful evening dining here. The food was delicious, homemade with a European touch. Do not go unless you have plenty of time to mellow out and enjoy. This place is a totally unique experience in the aUSA. Bravo to the owners!

“What Great people and excellent food!”

To celebrate my 60th birthday and our friend's Wedding Anniversary, we decided to check out this place. What an "interesting, uniqure" place. When you walk in you might think that you are entering someone's home/antique shop. There is not a lot of seating but the place is so warm and friendly. The owner's make you feel so special and tend to your every need; however they are truly relaxed about everything. Plan to spend some time here as the food preparation takes a little longer than usual but it is definitely worth the wait. Our group had the wiener schnitzel, the chicken marsala and the smoked pork chop meals, accompanied by the spaetzles. YUM-YUM. Everything was wonderful. Being as we were celebrating special events, our out of town daughter had arranged for dessert, which the owner of the place made special for us - the Beehive (pictured) which was delicious as well. We travelled two hours to find this place (which make sure you get directions as GPS doesn't like this place and will get you lost) and it was well worth the drive.

“A most unusal place to dine.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

Think about what it would be like if your German neighbor invited you over for dinner. That;s what it's like at Der Jaeger. There are only a few tables, one of them a huge dining room table. You select your items and then wait while they are prepared. By wait, I don't mean sit around, the restaurant is located in an antique shop. Wall all over the two floor shop and look at some amazing antiques and paintings, some by some pretty well know artists and carrying very hefty price tags, Luckily the dinner menu does not carry the same hefty price tag,

If you would like a home cooked meal at an absolutely great price and you don't mind eating in an antique shop and chatting with the owner, This is the place for you. True German comfort food, well prepared and reasonably priced.

This is a unique eatery and well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed,
