“Love that trout!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

Dined here on a Saturday evening. A happening place! Had a wonderful Pennsylvania trout dish and a salad with baked pumpkin, roasted pumpkin seeds, and goat cheese. Excellent value and I would definitely try to dine here again if back in the area.

“Food is great, but the service was not...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

The good...
Everything was prepared perfectly and was delicious. The chef really has it together. The location is right down the road from Longwood Gardens.

The bad...
The wait staff seems very unhappy. I don't know but my guess is management is riding them to misery or something. I noticed a guy who seemed to be a manager watching the employees like a hawk. That would explain the missable employees. If he's going to be so visible he probably should walk around checking tables. Like asking how things are going or if we need anything. He did none if that as far as I can tell. The table was not clean, it was sticky! A place like this should probably have table cloths.

Summary...
Overall I recommend Savano Bistro for the food and location. Hopefully they'll work on the other issues.

The detail...
We arrived at Savano Bistro without reservations around 6:30 Saturday, November 2nd. The hostess was friendly and we were seated right away in what I think is the main dining room.

The restaurant has several rooms all of them comfortable, some rooms were louder than others because of high ceilings.

The waiter came over right away and took our drink order. The drinks came pretty quick. Bread, bread sticks and a sample egg plant dish were dropped off soon after the drinks.

We ordered the oysters from the specials and apple salad from the menu as our appetizers. Our entrees were the salmon dish from the specials and the NY Strip (med rare) from the menu.

“Consistently Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We LOVE Sovana. This is a wonderful restaurant convenient to Longwood Gardens, which has an innovative menu, fresh ingredients, a wonderful wait staff, and a lovely, Restoration Hardware-type decor. We highly recommend the pan roasted chicken, served with delicious, creamy mashed potatoes, sauteed greens, cremini mushrooms, and a savory deglazed sauce. Yummy. Hubby often orders the chef's special. Tonight, it was pike fish over a red pepper coulis. The bread basket is fresh, and includes long, crispy, thin breadsticks- always a delight. There is always a "chef's bite"- which is a little "something", presented after you order, which is a treat. There is a fixed price menu, which includes a soup or salad (the Caesar salad is wonderful), as well as an entree (smaller portion than the regular menu but still very ample), and a dessert. The desserts are always delicious and fresh. My daughter had a pear tart to die for. We have recommended this delightful restaurant to many friends. Do be cautioned though, it isn't for the faint-hearted budget, but it is well worth it.

“Delicious!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

Ate here for a business dinner while on travel. Everything was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very nice inside, but a little dark. Staff was helpful and attentive. A little pricey but who cares when the company is paying! The Mac and cheese couscous was TO DIE FOR!! So good!! Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Calamari appetizer was also delicious, and the prawns with spaghetti squash.

“Suburban Chic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Sophisticated but casual, urban but country, Sovana is consistently serving well prepared food in a local and trendy atmosphere. Service is always excellent as well. Salads are usually especially good, wood fired gourmet pizzas, fish, chicken, etc. all well prepared with some imagination thrown in.
