5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

What a nice atmosphere for sandwhiches hot food too , iced tea lemonade, fruit salads. A treat ! A worthwhile stop for lunch while touring. Dine inside or outdoors on the terrace, either way it won't dissapoint.

“Great place to take a break at Longwood Gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

The Terrace Cafe is a cafeteria type café within the gardens. The Terrace Café typically offers a build a salad bar, sandwiches, hot entrées, soup, desserts, prepackaged salads & sandwiches, and hot & cold beverages. The selections are not inexpensive but they are not typical food service fare. I have found the food offerings to be interesting, and well prepared with quality ingredients. This is, I am sure, the result of having a resident chef from the “1906 Restaurant” overseeing the Terrace Café offerings. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available.

“Perfect for a quick lunch inside the Gardens.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Excellent quality/value for attraction food. It was a very attractive site, views are great, quick, very clean, nice selection, nice quality, people are friendly, bathrooms are clean, A/C, indoor or outdoor seating, nice selection for children. Arrive when others are not. 11:30 am was fine for the day we visited.
I would recommend if visiting the Gardens.

“Fresh local ingredients and a good selection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

We hadn't been to the Terrace Restaurant in years but it was always a favorite place to eat. The format has changed and now there is the Cafe, which is cafeteria style and then there is a more formal restaurant called 1906. When you read that you really need to make reservations in advance it's the truth. There was one opening at 3:30 PM. The only drawback of eating in the Cafe is that you do not get their homemade bread baked in flower pots and you cannot order their signature crab cakes, both of which are served at 1906.

The Cafe was fine for a quick sandwich and a bowl of their signature mushroom soup. There was a good selection of sandwiches and wraps, salads and a few hot entrees. They sell ice cream made at Longwood Gardens and locally. There are also nice desserts.

The restaurant is a green restaurant meaning that they compost, recycle, etc. as much of what is used there. Again, the ingredients are local and fresh. You can eat inside or outside in the warmer weather. There were lots of families with young children.

The food is not inexpensive but reasonable for the quality. 1906 is more expensive than the Cafe. Everything is clean and nice.
