Of the two options for dining at the gardens I much prefer the Terrace. it can be noisy but for a quick bite to revive yourself for more walking it can't be beat.
Try the mushroom soup; I never leave without at least getting this!

Thought the food was good but priced too high. I paid $12 for 1/2 sandwich and soup. Choices of meat entrees available at higher price.

Love this place, we eat here almost every time we come to Longwood, which is about 4-5 times a year. The staff is wonderful, they are always accomodating and attentive.
The food is amazing, and the meal always begins with a brioche baked in a flowerpot, and the chefs amuse bouche of the day, which has never disappointed. The menu is seasonal and reflects the displays put on in the gardens themselves. One of my favorites: during Longwoods displays of 'sounds of the forest', the chef topped his creme brulee with pop rocks! The last time we went I had butter poached halibut, which was perfectly done and delicious.
They even have a kids menu, which has simple things like PB and J, but is presented in a beautiful way. Recommended: the cream of mushroom soup, which we always get when we come here, and the creme brulee is the bomb.

It's like a buffet, or many different restaurants put together, so you have many options. You can eat inside, or outside under an umbrella.

we were unable to get seating but in the cafeterian for lunch you could chose among lite fare or full meals and the desserts were awesome.
