“Grits alone would be fine with me”

They say they're the best grits in the area. I doubt that they are lying. Although I loved my mushroom and Swiss omelette, English muffin, side of bacon shared with husband, and even the coffee (I'm fussy), the best thing was the grits and when I go back again, I will be getting two large bowls of grits -- one with a slice of cheddar on top and one to put milk and sugar on. YUMM they are creamy and delicious. We were steered to this place by a guy named Larry Swift at the Inn at Montchanin where we slept the night before. Thanks Larry! Oh, and let me mention that if we had stayed at the Inn and had breakfast at Krazy Kats it would have cost us more than DOUBLE what we paid here. We're no idiots! :)

If you are looking for great, fresh eggs you found the right place - plus good grits (weekends only) and reliably fresh coffee - here you go. They have wonderful ingredient-rich omelets and good sausage. Its true that the people here are all characters but - if you love - great potatoes, eggs and sausage - you won't be disappointed. Great value too. If you are looking for a hug with your breakfast - look elsewhere. ; )

We checked out this eatery but quickly left because the employees just looked very greasy and grumpy.

Quirky owner puts out basic diner food like he invented the concept. It's a hang out for locals, who often keep their specialty items behind the counter. The food is home style, but done well if that's what you're after. And you won't have a heart attack when you see the bill. Good value.

Keller's Eatery is a classic small-town diner in the center of Kennett Square. Open at 6:30 am each day, closes at either 2 or 3 pm each day.

There is no atmosphere here; it's bare-bones diner. There are several tables for 2 or 4, and a small counter with seating for 8. The kitchen is toward the rear and is fully visible.

The owner is gruff and vocal. The waitresses hustle and are usually friendly.

Most importantly, the food is very good. The portions are usually large, and the omelettes are excellent. There are specials each day, and if you ask for something else, they can usually make it for you, as long as they have the ingredients. Also, with a new cook of Mexican descent, there's a Mexican special each Tuesday for lunch, and it's become very well patronized in Kennett.

As with many small-town diners, you'll find that people tend to know each other in here and call each other by name. There are lots of regulars. There's good-natured ribbing between patrons and the waitresses and owner, and the place can become loud occasionally.

Go for the fresh food, the large portions and the good value. The front is a large plate-glass window, and it's nice to sit toward the front and watch the comings and goings on State Street in Kennett. Also, Mondays-Saturdays, remember to feed the parking meters although, usually (but not always), if your car runs short of time, the parking-meter guy will come into Keller's and ask if the car's owner is in there.
