Everything about Longwood Gardens is exquisite...including the 1906 Restaurant. It is expensive, particularly after paying Longwood's entry. Quiet, calm and well served, thoughtfully prepared meals are a delight. You can always count on Longwood to do wonderful things - and do them extremely well.

We were in Chadds Ford for our wedding anniversary weekend. We are members of Longwood Gardens and Winterthur and had purchased tickets for the Memorial Day fireworks at Longwood. Since we were going to be there anyway, we decided to have our anniversary dinner at 1906. The meal was phenomenal! We had a delightful waitress, Iva, who was very knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is the perfect choice for a special occasion. White linen table cloths and napkins, very quiet pleasant dining room. We opted for the "Chefs Tasting Menu" which was a surprise "chef's choice" selection for each of four courses. The chef chose a wine to go with each course. All produce comes from the gardens there at Longwood! Absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it!

Had lunch there on a recent visit to the gardens. The meal was awesome, the service very attentive and the woodsy setting totally enchanting. Before the meal they serve delicious muffins shaped like a small ice cream cone....yumm! We had crab cakes and also a portabello mushroom pannini...both were exceptional. We suggest reservations as they often fill up quickly but it is easy to reserve seats.

Was surprised to see that Longwood Gardens had a fine dining choice available, and we decided to try it for lunch during our visit for the fireworks and fountains show. While vibe is business casual, there is no dress code which makes sense given you want to be comfortable while exploring the grounds. The room is nicely decorated, and the sunroof and large windows allow plenty of light to shine through. Prices are a bit on the high side, but not ridiculous given the setting. Service was attentive and prompt without being overbearing. The wine list was well balanced and our selection was served at just the right temperature. Highlights from the meal were the warm bread to start (not sure if popovers or souffles) and the crabcake entree. Other food was good to very good except for the amuse bouche (radish with way too much ramp butter) - then again it was free. All in all, recommended for a visit!

It is very nice to have a fine dining choice at Longwood Gardens and not just fast food. We were there on a Sunday so we ordered the 3 course brunch meal. I was very happy with the quality of the food as well as the presentation. Great flavors in the food, nothing was bland or ordinary. We ere not rushed and spent a nice time enjoying the meal and the company at our table. Do make a reservation. The restaurant is small and you probably will not get in without one.
