Owner description: The Mushroom Cap featuring Fresh Mushrooms, Gourmet Mushroom Food Products, Gifts, Souvenirs, Collectibles and more.......See the original mushroom museum pieces from Phillips Mushroom Museum and/or watch a 13 minute video about the mushroom industry, Is Kennett Square really the Mushroom Capital of the World? Mushroom Festival Headquarters is here too! We eat, live and breathe mushrooms here and have fun all the while...........Tasting Snack 'n Shrooms(R) (a product developed at The Mushroom Cap) or Black Truffle w/ Olive Oil or Porcini & Rosemary flavored potato chips is a must.................Anyone for mushroom mustard? We are a stop on the Taste Kennett Food Tours on Sundays (beginning April 19th this year) too. Almost forgot to mention......The best kept secret "under" The Mushroom Cap is The Growing Tree Toy Shop. Hope to see you soon!

I had hoped to visit the Phillips Mushroom Museum, which apparently closed some time ago. This was a poor substitute. There was a meager display on how mushrooms are grown and some incredibly overpriced gift items featuring mushrooms.

Yes, the Phillips Mushroom Museum closed in 2012. We are fortunate to have some of the best pieces from that musuem for all to see. It is a little part of our heritage here in the Mushroom Capital of the World. Our 12 minute video (the "meager" display in action) replaces the often requested farm tour (only available once a year at the annual Mushroom Festival held in September the weekend after Labor Day). Our most popular gift items include embroidered dish towels @$13.99, Christmas ornaments that range from $9.99 to $24.99, mushroom garden stakes that start at $10.99 and mushroom cookbooks priced at $3.99, 6.99 & $12. If you want a beautiful hand-painted, signed, colorful mushroom designed dish from France or a teak mushroom stool - yes these could be on the expensive side but oh so beautiful. We have some of the best gourmet mushroom food products here too!

“The Freshest”

Picked daily, you can't get mushrooms any fresher, and a clothing consignment shop too.

“Everything Schroomy”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

To get a good look at the Kennett Square mushroom industry stop here for inventive ways to prepare mushrooms. There are many types of fresh and dried mushrooms for sale, and lots of recipe ideas too. There are also clothes, and other touristy type items for sale. All in all it's a nice shop on the main drag with more than just mushrooms for sale.
