“Excellant Museum”

If you want to fully understand the story behind the 3 Johnstown Floods you must visit.
The movie won an academy award for short story documentary.
You should also visit the Dam site in St. Michael and watch that movie. Same story, different twist.

“Look into History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

Pictures and artifacts created the horrific time of the flood. Stories of heroism and life lost. Makes you appreciate each moment of life you have.

Award winning video and overview of how the flood took out Johnstown. Also nice display of progression of flood.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

I saved this museum for last, expecting it to be better than the Johnstown Flood Memorial but it wasn't. The museum has a decent film but there are more pictures than anything else. The bottle of actual flood water is interesting. The parking directions are impossible to understand and we moved our car twice!

“some very interesting objects”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

the best part of the museum is the LED-model of the path of the flood - truly a first rate and even beautiful rendering of the landscape and the event. the mighty-mouse cartoon should be neither missed nor skipped. ditto for Hettie Ogle's telegraph machine. Also first rate are is the third floor collection of the library. in general, though, the overall interpretation leans towards the biases of local sentiments rather than offering the most accurate possible interpretation of the tragedy
