Description: At The Mexican, we serve traditional Mexican cuisine, sourcing only the freshest local meat, seafood and produce to combine with our traditional recipes and home made sauces. We serve all the traditional dishes you expect at a Mexican restaurant, including Taco's, Nacho's, Burrito's, Enchilada's and Fajita's. However if what your looking for is supermarket style Old el Paso, or Taco bill franchise Mexican, you may be disappointed. The Mexican is GENUINE Mexican. House specialties including Spicy Wings, two amazing Yamba Prawn dishes, and arguably the best Chipotle Glazed Pork Ribs on the planet!! Our bar is locally renowned for serving the best Margaritas and cocktails in town. We also have an extensive wine list, featuring many boutique wines from Australia and Overseas. Speaking of wines... Our secret recipe Sangria is a must on a hot summers day.... Which is just about every day in Sunny Yamba. What are you waiting for??

Nice combo of Mexican and modern tastes. Cool decor and good staff that respond well to smiles, we had a ball.

Good little venue with outside seating perfect for a balmy night. We were a party of three families with kids. Note - no kids menu options are available.

The front of house staff were all very friendly but they seemed under pressure and looked like they needed an extra pair of hands to cope with the volume of tables...took a long time each time to get our drinks.

Great icy cold beers and good sized soft drinks for the kids, reasonably priced wine but strangely after one bottle we had to choose a different wine because they had run out.

The food wasn't bad - I'm generally sceptical about anglo Mexican because usually all the dishes (burritos, tacos, enchiladas etc) all taste the same. We shared a nachos and it was fairly tasty with good chips and shredded beef and bean topping. The sour cream was too runny - more like cream.

I had combo fajitas for main and it was pretty good although the sizzling platter looks a bit sparse when delivered with barely enough filling for three serves and no more - would look better on smaller hot plates...good fajitas and accompaniments...everyone else in our party seemed happy and all their meals looked good, especially the chimichangas (advertised as two portions but was actually one cut in half?).

Overall I must say there was no issue with quality of the food and the kitchen team did a good job preparing it to a strict script - didn't see any Mexican chefs out there...

It wasn't cheap and I wouldn't rush back but I thought the team running it did their best and the food was good quality but small portions and nothing to rave about flavourwise. You could do similar at home.
